Best weapons for Kaeya in Genshin Impact
For main DPS Mistsplitter Reforged, Summit Shaper is the best 5-star option and Blackcliff Longsword, The Flute are both good options but since Blackcliff Longsword provides Crit Damage as it’s secondary it can help Kaeya because the main DPS Kaeya running 4 pc Blizzard Strayer and using Cryo resonance has a very high crit rate and to consistently deal higher damage it is better to build Crit damage with Blackcliff.
For sub-DPS Kaeya Mistsplitter Reforged, Primordial Jade Cutter is the best 5-star option. Among the 4 stars Blackcliff Longsword, Lions Roar and the flute are the best. Flute and Lion’s roar both provide attack buff and have decent passive. Lions roar out damages Flute when constant reactions are triggered.
Best Team Comps
Kaeya is a flexible character who performs various functions based on the requirements of the team. He can be used as a physical or a cryo DPS but he does a better job working as a Cryo DPS since most of his damage comes from his cryo-based skill and burst. To get the maximum damage output from a Cryo Kaeya it is recommended to run him in a Perma freeze team. The team comp is Kaeya, Chongyun/ Rosaria, Mona/Xingqiu, and a healer preferably Bennet or Jean.
Kaeya also serves as a sub-DPS and does well in the reverse melt or vapemelt team. An example of this is pairing him with Xiangling or Hu Tao for continuous cryo application. This role is generally donned by Rosaria but Kaeya has a higher damage potential with his burst and since the burst moves with the on-field character he can prove to be useful in more situations.
Kaeya also slots in well in a quick swap team where when out of energy he can use his skill to dish out high damage especially when a reaction occurs and on gaining energy quickly activate his burst and tag other characters.
How to obtain Kaeya
Kaeya is unlocked for free in the Prologue, Act I: The Outlander Who Caught the Wind during the quest Crash Course. He is also available in the shop, Paimon’s Bargains for 34 Starglitter. Being a starter character he has never been added to the limited banner as a rate up character and is rather available in the standard banner.
