Misty Dungeon is an event in Genshin Impact where players go through domains using a team created from Trial Characters provided. The event was first released in version 1.5 and had a rerun in version 2.3. This event is very popular among players since it gives them the chance to try out characters they do not own yet. This guide will cover how to unlock and easily complete this event.
How to unlock the Misty Dungeon “Realm of Sand” event in Genshin Impact
The event will be available from December 9th to December 19th. Players above Adventure Rank 20 can participate in this event at any time during those 10 days. There is no in-game location that players need to visit to enter the dungeons, the event is accessible from the events page itself.

Selecting a trial
There are a total of 7 trials in this event. They are all time-gated, so players will have to wait to access them. The trials are unlocked on the following days:
- December 9th: Howling Trial & Stormwood Trial Unlocked
- December 11th: Attrition Trial & Mist Trial Unlocked
- December 13th: Sprouting, Might, & Determination Trials Unlocked
Players must complete the previous trials to access the next one. Each trial contains different enemies and Ley Line disorders.
Creating a team
Every trial lets the player pick from 6 pre-selected trial characters. The trial characters are all at level 80 and talent level 8. If the player owns a character that is also a trial character, the trial version of the character will have the same constellation level as the one the player owns. Otherwise, the trial characters are all at C0. The available trial characters in Misty Dungeon “Realm of Sand” are (in no particular order):

Activating ancient runes
There is a Control Array in the main room in the center of the dungeon. There are three Ancient Runes on the left, right, and back of the main room. Activate the three Ancient Runes and defeat the enemies. This will unlock the Control Array in the main room.
Players can check the map at any time by pressing “U” on PC or clicking the icon to the immediate left of the mini-map on mobile. Every trial has the same map.
Benedictions
There are three Benediction challenges found in the dungeon. Completing them will heal and revive all the characters in the party, among other things. The Benedictions are all skippable, none of them are mandatory to complete the dungeon.
There are healing buffs found in the hallways and rooms in the dungeon. They will heal the active character for a certain amount of HP. There are also movement speed buffs to make it faster to traverse the dungeon. Please note that food is not allowed inside the dungeon, so completing the Benedictions and picking up the healing buffs would be advisable.
Completing the final challenge
Once all three Ancient Runes have been activated, the Control Array in the main room will activate, revealing an elevator. Ride the elevator to move to the room above and find the final challenge in that room.
Genshin Impact Misty Dungeon “Realm of Sand”: Event Rewards
Every stage of the event gives rewards for just completing the trial. An additional reward is given for completing a certain objective. For example, the Howling Trial rewards the player for causing 30 Swirl reactions. Similar easy-to-complete objectives will be there for each trial.
Since there are a total of 7 stages, the Misty Dungeon “Realm of Sand” event will reward the player with a total of 420 Primogems if all the trials and objectives are cleared. Rewards for each trial:
- Completing the trial: 40 Primogems
- Completing the trial-specific objective: 20 Primogems
- Mora
- Boss materials
- Weapon ascension materials
- Hero’s Wit
