- Where Winds Meet is cracking down on black market trading, unofficial top ups, and fraudulent gift scams.
- Players involved in malicious chargebacks or unofficial transactions may now face long term or permanent bans.
- The devs will recover illegally obtained items and introduce new Gift System security upgrades soon.
NetEase Games has announced a major crackdown against illegal trading activities in Where Winds Meet, aiming to protect players from scams involving discounted gifts, unofficial top-ups, and fraudulent item trading. They are introducing a new security update to the gifting feature, recovery system, and more.
Accounts linked to black market scams may now face strict penalties and legal action
So, according to the team, some players have recently been tricked by unofficial sellers offering cheap gifts or discounted top-ups offline, only to lose these items later on after the system detects illegal transactions tied to those accounts. A similar situation happened in Mobile Legends, too.
To deal with this issue, the devs are introducing stricter punishments, item recovery systems, and new security improvements for the gifting feature. Moreover, they confirmed that accounts linked to malicious chargebacks, unofficial trading, or black market scams will now face heavy penalties like long-term or permanent bans and may even lead to legal action.
Gift System is getting a new security upgrade, and they’re recovering illegally obtained items
Alongside these punishments, the devs will recover illegally obtained items through gifts with malicious chargebacks. And if it’s already consumed, the system will “deduct an equivalent value in Echo Beads.” And like the MLBB situation, your balance can also become negative, which temporarily restricts access to certain gameplay features and modes.
To further reduce illegal activity, the devs also revealed that the Gift System will soon get a security upgrade. Among those changes is a “cooldown period for sending gifts after adding a friend.” And since Where Winds Meet never authorized any third-party platform for top-ups or discounted sales, you should only buy from official channels and not risk your account and hard-earned money.
