Genshin Impact TCG Character Cards Guide In-Depth Explanation and More

Utilise the Character Cards to their max potential!

Genshin Impact released another Permanent game feature during the 3.3 version update called Genius Invokation TCG. Genius Invokation TCG is a 1v1 Duel Card Game where players can battle with NPCs, Playable Characters, or other players in co-op mode. This game is strictly a PvE game setting where players obtain various rewards when completing the challenges. While playing the game you will notice a type of card called Character Cards which are the main cards to use in the deck. There are currently 27 obtainable Character cards and so this Genshin Impact guide will be explaining Character Cards in-depth as well as listing all the current obtainable Character cards in TCG and how to obtain them.

Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG Character cards overview

Character Cards are the Main Cards that you will be used during the Action Phase of the round. Players must have three Character Cards in their deck in order to start the battle. Only one Character Card can be used during the Action Phase and this Card is called the Active Card. Only your Active Card can deal damage to the other challenger’s Active Card while also taking in damage yourself.

Every Character Card has about 10 HP. When the Character Card has 0 HP they become unable to be used anymore. Once they are defeated, your game will ask you to choose another Character Card to use as your Active Card. Eventually, once all 3 Cards are defeated, the game will be over. Character Cards work just like Playable Characters where the Cards have 3 different moves to use: Normal Attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst.

  • Normal Attack: Normal Attacks deal either Physical Damage or Elemental Damage depending if the Character Card is a Catalyst user or not. The cost of dealing with Normal Attack Damage is 1 Elemental Die of the same Element of your Active Card and 2 Dices of Any Element.
  • Elemental Skill: Deals raw Elemental Damage to the opponent. The cost of dealing with Elemental Skill Damage is 3 Dices of the same Element as your Active Card.
  • Elemental Burst: Deals a unique type of Elemental Damage depending on the Character Cards. The cost of using the Elemental Burst is 4 Dice of the same Element as the Active Card and a certain amount of Energy. Energy is gained whenever your Active Card deals damage. It’s indicated on the top-right side of the Character Card and gets full once all the Energy glows yellow. Only then can you fully use the Elemental Burst.
  • Active Card: Switching to another Character Card to make it the new Active Card requires 1 Die of any Element. Note that since this is during the Action Phase, switching to another Card will end your Turn.
