Ready for a showdown?

Story Highlights
  • GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE announces new animated shorts series titled Outpost: Off-Duty Tales.
  • The first episode titled The Counters - First Time at the Outpost! will premiere on May 22, 2026.
  • The shorts focus on slice-of-life moments and everyday interactions between the Nikkes.

SHIFT UP is officially taking Goddess of Victory: NIKKE one step further beyond just being a mobile RPG, as the company has now revealed a brand-new animated shorts series titled Outpost: Off-Duty Tales. The first episode, “The Counters – First Time at the Outpost!”, is set to premiere on May 22, 2026.

With these shorts, the action will be on hold, and your NIKKEs will be showing a much calmer and slice-of-life side of the franchise. Instead of intense battles, emergency missions, and gunfire, the shorts will focus on the everyday lives of the Nikkes inside the Outpost, featuring casual interactions, funny moments, and relaxed storytelling.

NIKKE is expanding beyond the game through multimedia and entertainment projects

This is a great idea to begin with, as NIKKE already has one of the strongest combinations of character writing, emotional storytelling, and anime-style presentation among gacha titles, so adapting that into animated shorts makes a lot of sense.

And to be fair, this is not exactly a new route in the gacha space either. Several major franchises have already experimented with animated shorts, mini-series, or even full anime adaptations over the years.

Games like Honkai Impact 3rd, Blue Archive, Arknights, Azur Lane, Fate/Grand Order, Princess Connect, and the Girls’ Frontline franchise have all explored similar expansions in different ways. Some games have even explored anime ambitions, say Devil May Cry last year or Genshin Impact’s ongoing development as examples.

This also aligns with the fact that NIKKE wants to grow as a franchise, not just a game. SHIFT UP confirmed during its Q1 2026 earnings presentation that the company is actively expanding NIKKE beyond the game itself.

Be it merchandise, offline events, universe-building initiatives, and broader entertainment projects, these animated shorts, for now, will all be a major part of the franchise expansion strategy. So I would say it won’t be surprising at all if a full anime adaptation eventually happens in the future too.

The animated shorts are expected to premiere through NIKKE’s official social channels, with more episodes and updates planned in the future. Details about the schedule of other episodes are unknown, so stay updated in this space and be updated.
