This Honkai: Star Rail Mortenax Blade Build Guide will help you maximise his abilities by providing a detailed breakdown of his skills and recommending the optimal configurations to enhance her performance.

Honkai: Star Rail Mortenax Blade Build Guide: Kit Explained

Mortenax Blade is a new 5-Star Fire Nihility character in Honkai: Star Rail. We can use him as a DPS or a support character thanks to his dual-form mechanism. With his Ultimate, he can act as support, and we can use him as DPS by deploying a Zone that reduces enemy stats and increases the damage they take. His kit revolves around consuming his own HP to boost damage, along with his combat effects. Here is a detailed explanation of his Skill, Ultimate, Talent, Elation Skill, Technique, and Passive Skills.

Skill

After using his Skill, he consumes his 15% HP and deals Fire DMG equal to 72% of Mortenax Blade’s Max HP. Additionally, deals 4 instances of Fire DMG, and each instance will deal 24% based on his HP. If he doesn’t have 15% HP, his current HP will be reduced to 1 after using his Skill. His kill does not consume Skill Points.

Ultimate

The most important part of his kit is his Ultimate. After using his Ultimate, he inflicts a state called “Balefire Bind” on all enemies. In this state, the enemy’s defence reduces by 30%, and they take 50% more damage, lasting for 2 turns. Then, consumes HP equal to 30% of Mortenax Blade’s Max HP to deploy a Zone. While the Zone is active, Mortenax Blade enters the “Infinite Fury” state.

In the Infinite Fury state, his CRIT Rate increases by 20%, and CRIT Damage increases by 60%, unlocks his Skill, and gains a new Ultimate called “Tenax Per Ignem.” In this state, he will never get knocked down by any serious attack dealt by enemies. But, it will dispel the Zone, and he exits the Infinite Fury state, and recovers 50% HP.

Technique

Immediately attacks all enemies and decreases DMG taken by 90% for 2 turns.

Talent

When the zone is active, each time a teammate hits the enemy Mortenax Blade, it inflicts the Balefire Bind state on the enemy and grants him 1 Charge. When Charge reaches 9 points, Mortenax Blade consumes 9 Charge points and regenerates 25 Energy. This extra Skill usage does not consume HP and is considered a Follow-Up ATK.

Passive Skills

  • Bone, Hardened ad Nauseam: He can accumulate up to 80 Energy overflow. After using Ultimate, the Energy overflow is cleared, and a corresponding amount of Energy is regenerated. After his zone is dispelled, Energy is regenerated to 50% if it’s below 50%.
  • Soul, Tempered ad Mortem: When the Zone is active, it increases the chance of being attacked by enemies. After that, he inflicts the “Balefire Bind” state on the attacker and gains 1 Charge.
  • Heart, Refined ad Infinitum: When the Zone is active, damage dealt by allies increases by 50%. If there are other Nihility characters aside from him in the team, the ultimate damage dealt by ally targets increases by 50%. Otherwise, Follow-Up ATK DMG dealt by ally targets increases by 50%.

Reforged in Hellfire (5*)Increases the wearer’s Max HP by 24%. At the start of each wave, the wearer regenerates 20 Energy.

After the wearer uses a Skill Attack, they inflict the target with the Purgatory state, lasting for 2 turns. While in the Purgatory state, CRIT DMG taken by the target increases by 30%, and CRIT DMG taken from the wearer additionally increases by 30%.

It’s his signature weapon, which provides everything he needs for maximising the damage.
Lies Dance on the Breeze (5*)Increases the wearer’s SPD by 18%. After the wearer uses an attack, there is a 120% base chance to inflict the Bamboozle state on every enemy target. While under the Bamboozle state, enemy targets have their DEF decreased by 16% for 2 turns.

If the wearer’s SPD is higher than or equal to 170, there is a 120% base chance to inflict the “Theft” state on every enemy target. While under the “Theft” state, enemy targets have their DEF decreased by 8% for 2 turns.

When Bamboozle or Theft is repeatedly inflicted, only the most recently inflicted instance takes effect.

Best alternative for him if you don’t have his signature Light cone.

Very good 4* alternative for him, which gives him energy for smoother rotation.
