Tower of Fantasy Rubilia Guide: Best matrices, team comps and levelling materials

Tips to level-up Rubilia in Tower of Fantasy!

Tower of Fantasy has a new patch update, Version 2.5 where they introduce another new limited Simulacrum named Rubilia along with her weapon, Lost Art. Rubilia is a character that is revealed to be a Volt DPS simulacrum. In this guide, we will learn more about their abilities of Rubilia, her best matrices, team compositions, and the materials required to level her up in Tower of Fantasy.

Tower of Fantasy Rubilia Guide: Character Information

Dr Rubilia, the former head of the Listener Project, is now participating in Grayspace Entity studies as an Abyssant. Her involvement is kept secret due to her unique status. While the public still remembers her as a brilliant researcher and promising scientist, her current situation is far from ordinary. It seems that she has little to no chance of reintegrating into normal human society, and it appears that she may have anticipated this outcome for some time.

Second Attack: Deal damage equal to 72.9% of ATK plus 4 and knock the target back. Third Attack: Deal damage equal to 138.1% of ATK plus 7 and suspend the target. Fourth Attack: Deal damage equal to 316.5% of ATK plus 17 and knock the target back. Fifth Attack: Deal damage equal to 199.1% of ATK plus 10 and knock the target down.
SuppressAttack x5

While on the ground, use a normal attack to launch 5 consecutive attacks. First Attack: Deal damage equal to 98.9% of ATK plus 5 and knock the target back.

AdvanceAttack + Attack

While on the ground, tap and hold normal attack to trigger Advance, dealing damage equal to 211.7% of ATK plus 11.
DescentJump  + Attack

Tap and hold a normal attack while airborne (tap when a target is available), or use a normal attack while climbing, jumping backwards, or using the Jetpack to trigger Descent. Dive through the air, consuming Endurance and dealing damage equal to 241.9% of ATK plus 13 to nearby targets upon reaching the ground.
Dodge Abilities
DodgeDodge right before getting hit to trigger Phantasia, reducing the speed of targets within the area. Become immune to hitstun while dodging.
PillageDodge + Attack

Move in a direction while tapping normal attack during the short period after dodging forward to trigger Pillage, dealing damage equal to 55.9% of ATK plus 3 to nearby targets and suspending them. Using Pillage can trigger Feedback.
SwarmWhen the weapon charge is full or Phantasia is triggered, upon switching to this weapon, remove all debuffs from the wielderand summon Harrah to cast 12 Tempest Rounds, each of which deals damage equal to 68.8% of ATK plus 4 to nearby targets, during which the Wanderer has damage immunity for 2.6 seconds (unavailable in Apex League). Increase volt damage by 7% for 30 seconds after successfully using Harrah’s Embrace. In addition, generate 3 Crystamax thorns (up to 5 can exist at one time). Crystamax thorns start with 100% Max HP, are unable to be attacked, can only be healed by Feedback, and last for 150 seconds. Gain 2 Feedbacks after Harrah’s Embrace lands an attack (can stack up to 4 times). Lost Art consumes 1 Feedback every dodge attack, dealing damage to the target equal to the number of Crystamax thorns times 72% of ATK, recovering 25% of Max HP to the Crystamax thorns, and resetting Crystamax thorn location and duration. Harrah’s Embrace restores 1 dodge attempt upon landing an attack, and does not consume dodge attempts.
WeaveWhen on the ground, long pressing any dodge can trigger Weave, dashing for a distance through the air (does not work in areas the Jetpack can’t be used).
SealTap and hold normal attack during the short period after dodging to trigger Seal, launching a hive consciousness forward which controls Grayspace Entities that it hits, turning them into allies (does not work on bosses), lasting for 60 seconds. The control state is removed when Seal is used again on a target or its duration ends, dealing 45% of all damage dealt during the control period. The hive consciousness can be blocked by non-Grayspace Entity targets, which are not affected by this control effect.
Skill and Discharge
Field (Skill)Dash rapidly between two points 10 times, drawing in nearby targets and dealing damage equal to 371.7% of ATK plus 20 to nearby targets. Upon landing, deal damage equal to 198.3% of ATK plus 10 to nearby targets. Cooldown: 30 seconds. Each dash absorbs 10% of the Max HP of all Crystamax thorns (unavailable in Apex League), and deals additional damage equal to the number of Crystamax thorns times 40% of ATK, or the number of Crystamax thorns times 1% of the Wanderer’s Max HP, whichever is greater, until the crystal thorns are exhausted. The HP loss ratio of the Crystamax thorns’ Max HP is the same as the HP loss ratio of the Wanderer.
Harrah’s Embrace (Discharge)When the weapon charge is full or Phantasia is triggered, upon switching to this weapon, remove all debuffs from the wielder and summon Harrah to cast 12 Tempest Rounds, each of which deals damage equal to 68.8% of ATK plus 4 to nearby targets, during which the Wanderer has damage immunity for 2.6 seconds (unavailable in Apex League). Harrah’s Embrace restores 1 dodge attempt upon landing an attack and does not consume dodge attempts.

Best Matrices Build for Rubilia in Tower of Fantasy

Rubilia’s two-piece increases her Volt ATK unconditionally. This boosts damage by a decent amount though this effect is mostly inferior to the Fiona Matrix, which might as well be up all the time. The 4-piece effect increases all elemental damage when dealing damage with a Volt weapon.

This elemental damage stacks additionally with Scylla and Tian Lang’s matrices. So note that using multiple of these options together would be inefficient. In addition, this increases the Crystamax Thorn limit from five to six, which contributes quite a significant amount of damage.

Rubilia’s matrix blows the rest of the other matrices however this is with all of their maxed Advancements. For example, if you do not have Fenrir A3 then the value will be relatively smaller. Due to how damage is distributed fairly evenly between Fenrir and Rublia’s on-field time, matrices such as Samir and Shiro are relatively weaker now because of it.

Rubilia Matrix (SSR)

  • 2-piece set: Increase volt ATK by 14.5% / 16.5% / 18.5% / 20.5%. This set effect works in the off-hand slot, and only the set with the highest star rating will take effect.
  • 4-piece set: Increase Crystamax thorn limit to 6. Increase all elemental damage by 13% / 16% / 19% / 22% when a volt weapon lands an attack, lasting for 30 seconds. This set effect works in the off-hand slot, only the set with the highest star rating will take effect.

Fenrir Matrix (SSR)

  • 2-piece set: Increase crit damage by 14%/15%/16%/18%. This effect does not stack. This Matrix’s effect is also active in the off-hand slot, but only the set with the highest star rating will take effect.
  • 4-piece set: When dealing volt damage, increase final damage by 2.8% for 10 seconds, stacking up to 5/6/7/8 times. This Matrix’s effect is also active in the off-hand slot, but only the set with the highest star rating will take effect.

Fiona Matrix (SSR)

  • 2-piece set: After dealing damage, increase ATK by 16% / 18% / 20% / 22% for 30 seconds. This effect does not stack. Only the effect with the highest star rating is applied when obtained repeatedly.
  • 4-piece set: While Benediction Resonance is not active, after using Scatter Technique, increase final damage by 17% / 19% / 21% / 23% for 20 seconds. While Benediction Resonance is active, after using Scatter Technique, increase final damage for self and teammates by 8.5% / 9.5% / 10.5% / 11.5% for 20 seconds. Final damage is additionally increased based on a base attack by (Base ATK/10,000)%, up to 5%. This Matrix’s effect is also active in the off-hand slot, but only the set with the highest star rating will take effect.

Tian Lang Matrix (SSR)

  • 2-piece set: Every time volt damage is dealt, there is a 40% chance of triggering chain lightning, dealing damage equal to 50%/65%/90%/120% of volt ATK to up to 7 targets. Cooldown: 2 seconds. Every time chain lightning is triggered, increase volt damage by 6% for 6 seconds (chain lightning will not trigger attack effects). This effect cannot be stacked. This Matrix’s effect is also active in the off-hand slot, but only the set with the highest star rating will take effect.
  • 4-piece set: Every time a volt weapon’s skill or discharge skill is used, increase volt damage by 12%/14%/16%/18% for 15 seconds. This effect cannot be stacked. This Matrix’s effect is also active in the off-hand slot, but only the set with the highest star rating will take effect.

Shiro Matrix (SSR)

2-piece set: Increase both damage and shatter to targets with more than 50% HP by 15%/19%/22.5%/26%

Samir Matrix (SSR)

2-piece set: Increase damage progressively by 1% upon hitting a target. Stack up to 10/13/16/20 times. Lasts 1.5 seconds.

Best Team Comps for Rubilia in Tower of Fantasy

Since Rubilia is another Volt DPS, you can pair her off with other Weapons that are Volt to utilize the Volt Resonance. Her teams are centered towards Volt-based teams with some Altered Simulacrums in the middle.

Rubilia + Fenrir + Fiona

This ideal team consists of Fiona, Fenrir, and Rubilia (Double Volt and Altered). There aren’t any suitable replacement options as a lot of Rubilia’s synergy falls with Fenrir’s A3 and without that, the damage falls flat. Although Lin can work as a replacement for Fiona although the damage would be significantly less with Lin.

In this team comp, we initially use Fiona and utilize her Hydro Focus and Wellspring for the generic buffs. Afterward, switch to Fenrir, use her Skill followed by her A1, and then discharge to Rubilia. Rubilia will be utilized using her Skill, followed by two dodges to heal the Thorns back up.

Rubilia + Fenrir + Tian Lang

This is a Triple Volt team comp which consists of Tian Lang, Fenrir, and Rubilia. Replacing Tian Lang with Nemesis is a viable option if you don’t have Tian Lang invested in it. Still, other replacement options are pretty bad in comparison especially if you plan on replacing Fenrir. The Tian Lang rotation is used similarly to the Fiona-centered team comp, only the difference with this rotation is you swap into Tian Lang less frequently due to his skill having a longer cooldown.
