According to BusinessofApps, the Candy Crush series had generated a total of $1.19 billion in revenue in the year 2020, making it the third highest-grossing mobile game outside of China. 5. Candy Crush has been downloaded over 2.7 billion times

Last reported by developers King and parent company Activision Blizzard back in the year 2017, Candy Crush boasted a total of 2.7 billion downloads of the game in total across all platforms.

However, this number is expected to have risen dramatically in the past few years, which is evident in the increase of the amount of revenue gathered in 2017 compared to the year 2020. Candy Crush gathered a revenue of $1.19 billion in 2020, an increase of about 58.4% compared to the revenue of $695 million back in the year 2017.

7. Activision Blizzard, owner of the Call of Duty franchise, acquired King in 2016 at a price of $5.9 billion

Back in February 2016, Activision Blizzard, best known as the owners of the popular Call of Duty franchise, purchased King Digital Entertainment, developers of the Candy Crush Saga series, for $5.9 billion. 8. There was a live-action Candy Crush game show

In partnership with King Digital Entertainment, CBS had produced a live-action Candy Crush game show hosted by entertainment personality Mario Lopez, which premiered back on July 9, 2017. The game show brought the worldwide phenomenon to life as teams of two people each have to use their wits and physical agility to compete on enormous, interactive game boards based on Candy Crush, featuring next-generation technology.

The contestants use their entire bodies to swing, slide and swipe pieces to make matches to earn points and defeat obstacles, just like those in the actual game. Those who conquer the game are crowned the champions, with the winning team earning prize money of $100,000.

9. Every seventh person in Hong Kong plays Candy Crush Saga daily

Back in 2013, Tommy Palm of King Digital Entertainment, often credited as the mastermind behind Candy Crush Saga’s success, sat down with Yahoo! News for an interview, in which he shared insights into the game’s success.

Tommy Palm mentioned that King’s biggest game at that time, Bubble Witch Saga, had its popularity surpassed by Candy Crush Saga, making it one of the world’s most popular games at that time. He even went on to share that in countries such as Hong Kong, every seventh person plays Candy Crush Saga daily.

10. There are even players playing from the South Pole

Tommy Palm shared that he was happy over the game’s success, with Candy Crush Saga being discovered by so many fans across the globe. Furthermore, he added that the game even has players playing from the South Pole. With that said, it is no doubt that the Candy Crush Saga series is a massive success, with players playing from all seven continents here on Earth.
