31st SEA Games Hanoi 2021 includes 5 mobile esports titles

The SEA Games will feature popular games for the competition

The gaming industry is booming with the inclusion of a lot of competitive events, and the national-wide events are also capitalizing on the same. It was announced back in October 2020 that the Esports events in the 31st SEA Games Hanoi would be returning in 2021. Since then, there was not much information covered about the line-up of coming titles it would be featured. But Riot games SEA Wild Rift project Manager confirmed that the upcoming 31st SEA games Hanoi 2021 in Vietnam will feature League of Legends: Wild Rift as a contended title. Along with Wild Rift, four other popular games: PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, Arena of Valor and Mobile Legends will feature in the competition’s Esports Category.

Although it’s not clear that if this will be the final list or there could further changes in the menu of the games that will be featured in the SEA games event 2021. There can be additions in the future, only time will tell. As of now, five mobile games and three PC games are known.

About 31st SEA Games Hanoi 2021

The 31st Southeast Asian Games event will compete from different locations including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, East Timor, and Vietnam and would be competing across 40 sports. The event is set to launch on 21st November 2021 in the Rach Chief Sports Complex. Accordingly, the 31st SEA Games 2021 will see competitions in 40 sports with 526 events (256 events for Men, 232 events for Women, and 38 mixed events). Sports are split into different categories, and among them Esports finds itself in Category 3.

Going back to the past of the competition, during the 2019 SEA Games, six games were competed as part of the esports category, including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena Of Valor, Dota 2, Tekken 7, Starcraft 2, and Hearthstone. Malaysia won medals for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (Bronze) and Hearthstone (Gold). The Philippines was the overall champion for esports at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games and took the cake.

This year, in comparison to 2019, the SEA Games will not feature Dota 2, Starcraft II, Hearthstone, and Tekken, according to the news.
