Activision is starting an in-house studio to develop AAA mobile games

The mobile gaming battlefield is about to glance upon astounding developments as Activision started a new in-house studio named Activision Mobile dedicated to the development of AAA mobile games. The creator of the Call of Duty franchise, re-confirmed this on their careers available at the company and the first project would be to develop “a new AAA mobile title in the Call of Duty franchise” which could probably be COD Warzone Mobile.

Activision already has had immense success in the mobile gaming arena with Call of Duty Mobile, the mobile version of Call of Duty, with more than 500 million downloads worldwide as of May 2021. Call of Duty: Mobile’s development was done by Timi Studios, a Tencent-owned studio, which was published by Activision.

Activision plans to do more than COD Mobile

According to Activision Blizzard’s COO Danial Alegre during an earnings call, he mentioned that the company was planning to invest more into mobile. They intend to bring all of the company’s franchises to mobile. The launch of Activision Mobile and the expansion of its mobile development, as observed by its recent hiring spree, will allow the company to develop mobile games in-house and reduce its reliance on external partners. Activision Mobile will definitely set the milestones for the company to establish its goals.

COD Mobile

Activision Mobile studio is based in Santa Monica, California with their recent job listing looking for a senior producer with their motto of creating “the best AAA mobile games in the world.” The studio’s first game will be a mobile title in the Call of Duty franchise, which could be Warzone Mobile.

The development rumour of Warzone Mobile was first surfaced in September 2020 through an old job listing while it was in its early stages of development.
