Tech giant Apple has raised prices on a number of its subscription-based services, including the popular gaming subscription Apple Arcade, reminiscent of the price adjustments made last year with price hikes announced in October 2022, almost a year ago.
Apple announces price hikes for subscription services, but prices remain unchanged for Indian users
This is the second time in less than a year that tech giant Apple Inc. has lost ground. Announced price increases for many of their subscription-based products. The changes, which will affect a number of services, will take effect immediately for new customers and will be reflected in pricing for current members on their next renewal date.
Surprisingly, Apple hasn’t changed its prices in India. The monthly cost of Apple Arcade, in particular, stays at $1.2 (Rs 99) for the benefit of Indian Apple users, which is excellent news for Indian gamers. Furthermore, Apple Music and TV+ subscriptions continue to cost Rs 99. Apple has most likely decided to maintain the same prices because its services are still relatively new in India.
Whereas in other countries, the situation is different. Apple Arcade, the company’s gaming subscription service, is an affected service. Going forward, the monthly fee will increase from $4.99 to $6.99. The bundled package, called Apple Arcade and other Apple One services, used to cost $32.95 a month, but now costs $37.95. This process takes about a year to the day after Apple’s recent round of price increases in October 2022.
Following the Apple Arcade changes, Apple announced price increases for several other services. Here is a summary of the new rates:
- Apple Arcade: The gaming subscription service is rising to $6.99 (Rs 99) per month, up from $4.99 per month.
- Apple TV+: The cost of this streaming service is rising to $9.99 (Rs 99) per month, up from $6.99 per month.
- Apple One:
- Individual: The monthly fee for this plan will now be $19.95 (Rs 195), up from $16.95.
- Family: The family subscription will cost $25.95 (Rs 365) per month, up from $22.95.
