Black Rock Shooter, the popular Japanese media franchise, is making a comeback to video games. A mobile game titled Black Rock Shooter FRAGMENT has been announced, which will get a Japan release in the autumn of 2022. The game will be getting a worldwide release in early 2023.
Black Rock Shooter FRAGMENT: Overview
Created by illustrator Ryohei Fuke (also known as Huke), Black Rock Shooter is one of the most popular media franchises in the world. The plot revolves around a mysterious black-haired girl with a blazing blue eye and powerful cannon that can shoot rapid shots at high speed. The first game to be based upon the franchise was Black Rock Shooter: The Game which was developed by Imageepoch for the PlayStation Portable.
The details of the crew have been mentioned which mentions Ichiro Sakaki & Okina Kamino for scriptwriting, Rui Tomono for teaser visuals, Hiroto Sugawara for logo design, and Huke (creator of the franchise) will work as design director.
The game gears up for a global launch in 2023
The upcoming game will be released to celebrate the franchise’s tenth anniversary. The game’s story will take place in the 22nd century, where players will have a fateful encounter with a girl whose eyes burn with blue flame, as they begin to fight back against some hostile force.
As of now, the developers have not revealed any details of the gameplay. It can be expected that the game will follow the mechanics of popular action–adventure games where the player assumes the role of the eponymous character and fights hordes of opponents with major boss battles in between.
As the game gears up for a full-scale launch in 2023, fans of the franchise will be also delighted to learn that a new anime adaptation Dawnfall is set to premiere on April 3, 2022.
