The Black Rock Shooter franchise is coming to life with a new anime coming to Disney+ next spring named Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall along with a new Black Rock Shooter Fragment mobile game that will be a spin-off of the anime. The game will be brought to us by Good Smile Company and G2 Studios in the fall of 2022. It will release on both iOS and Android devices.
Black Rock Shooter FRAGMENT mobile will be set in a futuristic world
This announcement comes to us from a newly opened Twitter account and official website dedicated to the mobile game. G2 Studios, who is developing the game, tweeted a stunning illustration by artist Rui Tomono of the titular girl with long black hair and a blue flame emanating from her left eye, crouching in front of the star carved into a ruined building by her weapon, which came with the game’s Fall 2022 release window. The game will also be set in the 22nd century. You can find more details on the game’s official website.
G2 Studios also developed games like My Hero Academia: Ultra Impact and IDOLiSH7. Ichiro Sakaki, the creator of Scrapped Princess and Chaika the Coffin Princess, has been signed to write the main story and setting for Black Rock Shooter Fragment along with Okina Kamino. The manga and anime series’ creator Huke takes the helm of design supervisor.
Black Rock Shooter was brought to life by Huke in the manga and anime industry thanks to an illustration he shared on the online artist community Pixiv in 2007. The illustration was very well-received by everyone. Even by J-Pop band Supercell member Ryo, who created the song “Black Rock Shooter” using Hatsune Miku.
Just the second Black Rock Shooter game in over a decade
Black Rock Shooter Fragment will be the second video game that will be born out of the anime in over a decade. Black Rock Shooter: The Game was released by NIS America on the short-lived PSP in 2011. The English BRS portal hasn’t mentioned anything about this title, presumably because there are no plans for a global release as of yet, while the Japanese site does.
