Blue Archive is scheduled to release in China on August 3, 2023

The well-known mobile RPG Blue Archive is slated to release in China starting on August 3 under the name Weilandangan, as announced by Nexon Co., Ltd., a world authority on virtual worlds, which made the announcement last week. Shanghai Roaming Star Co., Ltd., a division of Shanghai Yostar Co., Ltd., will release the NEXON Games game Blue Archive in China under a new name, as per their licensing rules.

While the release in China comes close for Blue Archive, in a surprising turn of events in South Korea recently, the players of the popular gacha game successfully lobbied against the GRAC and uncovered some fraud allegations which was run covertly. Amidst this chaos, Blue Archive has continued to thrive with the developer Nexon focusing on their game and leaving no room for complaints from the gamers, who have shown that they can be a driving force to strive for change.

The Chinese government began the crackdown on gaming earlier last year when it brought in regulations where companies had to specifically have a server for Chinese players where they could not interact with players from other regions. Apart from that, there are new regulations put in place by the NPPA where all games must go through a licensing and approval process.

Meanwhile, on prominent smartphone platforms like Bilibili and Tap Tap in China, Blue Archive, which started pre-registration in March, was ranked first among games. In China, Blue Archive has more than 3.3 million registered gamers and received over 4.6 million views of the promotional trailers.
