China has officially announced its license approvals for some more new games for October 2023. The National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) released information on the approval of 87 new games for the month, which also included popular titles such as Zenless Zone Zero and Wuthering Waves.

Speaking of the two major games announced, Zenless Zone Zero is an upcoming urban fantasy action RPG shooter developed by HoYoverse. The game boasts the typical anime-themed visuals and was initially unveiled in May 2022. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world where players take on the role of a Proxy, a character tasked with aiding others in their exploration of the perilous alternate dimensions known as Hollows.
On the other hand, Wuthering Waves developed by Kuro Games, known for Punishing: Grey Raven, is also a game from the same genre as Zone Zero. First revealed in May 2022, the game offers an open-world setting in a post-apocalyptic fallout experience characterized by extensive exploration opportunities with a significant level of combat freedom. The game recently opened Closed Beta registrations.
While these two games were the talking points since they were quite the names before launch, another name caught the attention among the license-approved games in China for October 2023. It was Condor Heroes, an upcoming martial arts mobile game by NetEase Games. The gameplay trailer revealed a good amount of promise with the art style and mechanics, and its approval is also great news.
These three games found in the list were numbered Condor Heroes at 7, Wuthering Waves at the 72nd spot, and Zenless Zone Zero positioned at number 79. Based on the information provided, it’s reasonable to speculate that 2024 could be the anticipated release year for these games, especially considering that licenses have been granted, and game releases typically follow shortly after obtaining licenses.
