Electronic Arts always looks for new ways to bring its ever-popular FC and Madden franchise to light, including the mobile versions, FC Mobile and Madden Mobile. However, something new might be arriving in the future that might change the view of how players see the game, an Open World experience in the EA Sports FC franchise.
The FC team is trying to build unique experiences for its players, EA president confirms
For football lovers who want an experience outside of typical matches, EA has exciting plans to introduce open-world gaming to the EA FC series. The addition, which was revealed by EA president Cam Weber, would launch a “virtual open world playground”.
Cam Weber believes that the building blocks of fandom for younger generations are in creation, expression, and social connection. He further added:
“To capture this, our teams are hard at work on a couple of new projects. They’re building unique new experiences, virtual open-world playground spaces where you, your friends, and the fan community can come together to experience avatar-based collective play, both competitive and casual.”
Weber suggests that these new experiences will have creativity, connection, self-expression, and emergent gameplay at the forefront. Weber further added that EA is “talking about two distinctly different experiences for FC and its American football franchises.” While he noted that details are still under wraps, he expressed excitement about “introducing these new experiences into EA’s ecosystems in the years ahead.”
The open-world idea is still in its concept phase
The idea suggests a social, interactive platform where fans can explore, play, and gather to interact, so this is something that might pique the interest of the franchise. While Weber was explaining, we could notice some of the snippets playing in the background, but I believe those were just visual concepts.
Picturing an open-world setup for EA FC isn’t too hard, but seeing it in action will be something else entirely. To add further context, this was reported back in 2023 too, though nothing concrete came from it then. But on this very note, I like how EA tries to be creative with its games in the franchise.
If I were to give an example, they also introduced a Webstore for FC Mobile while the 24/25 season also arrived with loaded features. Considering this, I don’t they’ll ignore the mobile fanbase if an open world arrives in the future. Implementation looks difficult as the game might be a heavy one, but here’s hoping we get the experience soon.
