EA Sports‘ football title FC Mobile is one of the best mobile games in the genre, and it is obvious that it has a very high fanbase worldwide. Well, the CFO of Electronic Arts echoed a similar sentiment, saying FC Mobile is the blueprint of the company’s mobile strategy during the EA Fiscal Year 25 earnings Q1 call.
FC Mobile achieved a record Q1 net bookings result in FY25
Starting the earnings call, Andrew Wilson, EA’s CEO, shared an exciting vision for the future of sports entertainment and gaming. He noted how the lines between traditional sports and interactive gaming are blurring, allowing millions of fans to connect more closely with their favorite athletes, clubs, and competitions through EA SPORTS.
CFO Stuart Canfield mentioned the game’s performance. It is reported that results were better than expected, although down compared to the previous year’s World Cup-driven growth. Nonetheless, the new franchise is up mid-single digits compared to its predecessor, the FIFA Mobile series.
Speaking of the earnings, FC Mobile achieved a record Q1 net bookings result, driven by double-digit growth in spender acquisition due to gameplay improvements and real-life events. Well, this is great news for the franchise since this is their first year since the rebrand. This success of FC Mobile forms the blueprint for the mobile strategy of EA, leveraging mobile platforms to grow its biggest franchise.
FC 25 is expected to be released on or before September 2024, at the end of FY25 Q2
Looking forward, FC 25 is poised to make a big impact. Set for further growth in FY25, the launch of EA SPORTS FC 25 at the end of Q2 is expected to be strong, with new gameplay features, tactical improvements, and a revamped social experience driving engagement in the community.
Per the official statement, we can expect FC 25 to be launched on or before September 2024, so in the same timeframe, we can expect FC Mobile 25 to be released too.
The wait will be worth it as the new game will feature innovative, realistic gameplay powered by advanced AI and real-world football data. It will also introduce a new, social 5v5 experience called Rush, available across all major modes, and a content creation tool. Not sure if this will be replicated in FC Mobile as well, but overall, the FC platform will offer a richer and more immersive experience.
