- Skate will release across Mobile, PC, and Console platforms
- The June development update confirmed improved accuracy and control for mobile players
Skate (written as skate.) is finally looking to bring the ultimate skateboarding experience across multiple platforms as it is set to launch its Early Access version in 2025. Electronic Arts will be bringing the mobile version of Skate alongside PC and Console versions of the game.
Skate gears up with a more streamlined experience for mobile players
Skate Mobile is an upcoming free-to-play live-service game from Electronic Arts, developed by Full Circle. Bringing a cross-play and cross-progression experience across PC and mobile platforms, the game utilizes touch controls with its signature Flick-It System adapted for mobile.
Back in February this year when the insider playtests were announced, the leaked footage revealed gameplay on an iOS device, where players can seamlessly switch between PC and mobile versions. The menu layout remains consistent across both platforms, ensuring a uniform user experience. Back then, early to mid-phase development was indicated.
According to the recent development update shared in June, mobile players will also benefit from upgraded accuracy and control features, making it easier for newcomers to learn tricks while still challenging pro skaters with more technical moves. Additionally, there is an introduction of streamlined controls that will make the game more accessible to new players on mobile.
Meanwhile, sign-ups are open for those interested in playtesting skate. and it is contributing to its development. Console playtesting is scheduled for this fall. This is possible via Skate Insiders, a program where selected players get early access to the game and offer feedback throughout its development. Insider playtests are closed sessions, meaning only selected participants can join here.
The release date of Skate hasn’t been unveiled yet, so I’m expecting this soon to be after the Early Access phase. Just the year has been mentioned by the makers, so we’ll need to wait and see for further updates, which once received, I will update it in this space.
