Skate Mobile from EA is sending insider playtesting invitations after almost one and a half years

Getting hands on the game soon?

Electronic Arts stayed silent for a long while over Skate Mobile and its progress, and now, we might be getting a hands-on experience soon. From what’s being surfacing online, EA is reportedly sending insider playtesting invitations for Skate Mobile after almost one and a half years.

Skate Mobile was announced back in 2022 alongside the ‘reimagined’ Skate 4

In July 2022, Electronic Arts unveiled their latest project, Skate, a free-to-play live-service game developed by Full Circle where they also indicated that a potential mobile version of Skate is also in development, featuring cross-play and cross-progression capabilities. Notably, the game is set to be a live service title without any pay-to-win features, promising a fair and engaging experience for all of us.

A few months later in the same year, the playtest sign-ups for Skate mobile surfaced online and this pretty much confirmed Skate coming to mobile. During the signups which were ongoing, it was indicated that the game was in the early to mid-phase of development. But much to everyone’s surprise including me, that was the last thing we heard from it until the new progress.

A leaked preview of EA Skate Mobile shared on Reddit reveals gameplay footage and details. The game is shown running on an iOS device with crossplay functionality between PC and mobile platforms confirmed. Touch controls are implemented, although the “Flick-It System” typical of Skate games feels unconventional on mobile. The leaked images also showcase the menu layout, which is consistent across PC and mobile versions.

As for the testing, users are sent a QR code to install the playtest. Currently, I can only see iOS platform invites from the screenshots. Also, if players have already participated in the PC tests, their progress will be carried over too thanks to cross-play. So, if you want to participate and get Skate Mobile playtesting invitations, you can try your luck on the official website.
