Fanstars League brings Baseball fun in a card-based mobile experience, now open for pre-registration in Japan

Baseball, but collecting cards!

Story Highlights
  • Pro Baseball Fanstars League has opened pre-registration for fans in Japan on mobile.
  • Developed by Bandai Card Games, the title blends baseball coverage with card gameplay.

Baseball fans in Japan have a new mobile title to look forward to as the Pro Baseball Fanstars League, or in short, Fanstars League has opened pre-registration. Currently open for fans in Japan on Android and iOS, this game from Bandai Card Games is offering a slightly different way to experience the sport on mobile.

Pro Baseball Fanstars League features AI-powered commentary and live match tracking

Instead of focusing purely on your baseball gameplay as we have in other games, the app mixes professional baseball coverage, live match updates, and card-based mechanics into a single experience designed around following real matches that happen, which is quite interesting.

One of the key ideas behind Fanstars League is combining gameplay with real-world match updates. The app includes a feature called Famista View, which lets us track professional baseball games in real time. Alongside live updates, the game will also provide AI-powered audio commentary.

However, there is quite a bit of fun in the gameplay side of things, too. The main game flow revolves around a mode called Fan Stars League, where you build a deck of 18 player cards consisting of nine starters and nine bench players.

These cards are directly tied to real match events. Plays like doubles, stolen bases, and other in-game actions can trigger card skills and earn points depending on how your deck is set up. You can swap bench cards during matches to react to how a game unfolds.

Even though it isn’t a full-fledged baseball experience, the card-based system is still an interesting attempt. It feels like the developers are leaning more into the fan engagement side of the sport, collecting cards and enjoying their real-match performance benefits.
