Former executive gets a death sentence for assassination of founder back in 2020!

Former Executive, Xu Yao has been handed a death sentence for the assassination of billionaire founder, Lin Qi, founder of Yoozoo Games. Xu Yao, in charge of Yoozoo’s movie production arm, poisoned Lin Qi, the founder of the gaming company back in 2020 and now has been handed a death sentence.

The primary reason behind the poisoning of the founder, Lin Qi is said to be some business disputes that the two had. Xu Yao the former executive, poisoned the beverage of company founder Lin Qi in December 2020 because of a dispute over the running of the business. There were 4 more individuals affected by this poisoning, however they were just sickened and managed to survive the poisoning.

Lin Qi, died 10 days later in 2020 after which Xu Yao, the prime suspect at that time was detained by the local police. The company owns the film rights to The Three-Body Problem a pretty famous Chinese science fiction trilogy.

The company in 2020, granted Netflix the right to adapt the trilogy, which given the success of the franchise would be a great business move. The adaption was to be produced by some big names including, Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss alongside Lin Qi who was listed as an executive producer of the series.

Lin Qi, with a net worth of 1 Billion, was definitely among China’s richest entrepreneurs. He founded Yoozoo in 2009 and had a successful stint with them. The company was also behind the development of “Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming,” a game based on the TV series. Apart from this, Yoozoo was also the co-publisher of Supercell’s smash-hit game Brawl Stars along with China’s Tencent Holdings.

The company despite doing well in the gaming department, was struggling to get off the mark in the motion picture business as the previous projects did not bring success the company would’ve hoped for.

This could’ve been the reason behind the disputes and ultimately assassination of the Yoozoo Games’ founder leading to the Death sentence. According to BBC, the company posted an emotional message via their official Weibo microblog stating, “Goodbye youth, We will be together, continue to be kind, continue to believe in goodness, and continue the fight against all that is bad.”
