FunPlus’ King of Avalon (KoA) gets a class action lawsuit for mendacious advertising

Not the first time for FunPlus!

A class action lawsuit for mendacious advertising has been filed against the Beijing-based mobile game developers FunPlus Interactive and Kingsgroup Holdings for their game King of Avalon. The players of the game have reported the discount prices as “fraudulent”, which is now under investigation.

FunPlus had previously been sued for a similar activity

King of Avalon in the game shop had listed cheap prize packs with a red strikethrough line, giving the impression that the costs have been drastically reduced which in reality, wasn’t. Millions of players may have purchased the fake limited-time offers for up to $99.99 per buy, which was a case of fraud to increase sales within the game.

The official statement read: “We are investigating a class action against KingsGroup and FunPlus on behalf of customers who made in-game purchases in the King of Avalon mobile game. We are investigating whether King of Avalon and FunPlus falsely advertise and sell game items in King of Avalon at allegedly substantial discounts to lure players to purchase packs based on deals that never existed.”

Not so long ago, in October last year, FunPlus’ other title State of Survival was sued by its own players for false advertising. According to the complaint, the game offered players fabricated discounted reward bundles that contain a red strike-through queue that makes it appear as though the prices have been drastically reduced.

The Plaintiffs are again represented by Pollock Cohen LLP attorneys Raphael Janove and Adam Pollock. FunPlus should have not repeated the same mistake again, which is nothing short of bait for the fans and players, which in turn makes them lose faith in the game as well as the team behind it.
