Genshin Impact is a free-to-play RPG developed and published by the Chinese video game company HoYoverse. Developers’ Discussions are all about answering community problems and sharing ideas between the players and developers for the betterment of the game. Let’s take a look at all the questions answered during the Developers’ Discussion after Genshin Impact Version 3.7 update.
Genshin Impact Version 3.7 update: Developers’ Discussion highlights
Here are the answers to some of the questions by the developers at HoYoverse.
Multi-layered map
One of the most requested features since the release of the Sumeru region in version 3.0 was a way for players to view the several underground areas added to the map. First of all, it is impossible to tell if an underground area exists just by looking at the main overworld map. Second of all, it is impossible to know the general layout of an underground area once you are inside it.
In comparison, the overworld map helps players understand their positioning in the world by showing a topographical view of the world. Players can plan their route when they are going somewhere by taking a quick glance at the map. The lack of an underground map means once you enter the area, you are essentially lost and have to rely on your memory to figure out where you are.
Starting from version 4.0, players can access a multi-layered map that will contain the layout of the underground area, as well as a level-by-level map. Sometimes an underground area has stairways that lead to several levels below ground, which makes exploration a rather confusing ordeal. This new multi-layered map will address that issue. It is a great Quality of Life improvement. Please note: this is under development and is not indicative of the final product.
Quest-tracking optimizations
When players navigate a quest from the journal, it marks the location of the quest on the map. Players need to manually open the map and find a way to reach the location.
Starting from version 3.8, navigating a quest will directly open the map. This optimization removes the additional step of having to open the map manually and scroll to the quest location. Please note that this is under development and is not indicative of the final product.
Persistent tracking support for Daily Commissions
While doing daily commissions, players need to manually open the journal after each commission to navigate and reach the next commission. Starting from version 3.8, the game will automatically navigate the next commission based on distance and other factors. No need to open the journal and select a commission to navigate.
Review narrative checkpoints after completing Hangout Events
When the Hangout Events come to an end, you will gain the “Review Invitation” button in the Hangout Memory menu which will allow you to view the narrative checkpoints.
Quest menu display optimizations
Starting from version 3.8, red dots will be displayed more intuitively and conveniently for quests. At the same time, the rules for sorting the Archon Quests or certain other quests will be optimized, allowing players to discover their objectives faster.
Fixing the issue of “characters being occupied in other quests”
When multiple-character story quests are activated, even when the quest is not navigated, the characters involved are shown as busy with that quest. Developers, therefore, decided to plan to add a more detailed redirection guide for the affected quests in the quest menu to help players to resolve their occupied quests.
Separating the “unlocking” and “accepting” of character story quests
Players tend to unlock all available character story quests to avoid wasting their keys. This creates a problem where some characters in limited-time events become preoccupied with a story quest that the player has not yet started playing. Another problem is when players approach a location involved in a story quest, it triggers the associated cutscene without any prompt.
To deal with this situation, the developers plan to separate the unlocking and accepting sections of a story quest into two steps. After the adjustments, after unlocking the story quest, players will no longer automatically accept them, thereby preventing players from wasting any keys while also preventing the inter-quest congestion.
Optimizing pre-requisite quest progression
When players are presented with a list of pre-requisite quests, they often become confused as to which quest to prioritize.
The developers plan to plot out the current prerequisite quest’s completion process in a pop-up window display. This way, players can be more efficiently redirected to the prerequisite quests they haven’t completed yet.
Limited-time events potentially becoming a permanent addition
There are several limited-time events that become popular among the players who wish they were permanent additions to the game. The developers have communicated that while they planned to make them permanent, they did not feel that those game modes were fleshed out enough. In the future, they plan to create more permanent game modes.
Final thoughts
That was all for Genshin Impact version 3.7 Developers Discussions. This time they added multiple most-requested features like underground maps and fixed the issue of the preoccupied characters. We can only hope that one day they will add an artifact loadout system too.
Do not forget, Players have the option to share their suggestions and concerns with the game developers by submitting them through the feedback section in the in-game menu which allows developers to review and potentially implement their ideas for the betterment of the game. This is really important if we want more Quality of Life features to be added to the game.
