Genshin Impact Version 5.0 Phase 1 banners will go live after the server maintenance on the 28th of August, 2024, and will last till the 17th of September, 2024 at 17:59 server time. The Version 5.0 Phase 1 banners will feature one new 4* character, one new 5* character, and one new 5* weapon.
Genshin Impact Version 5.0 Phase 1 First character banner: Sharktacular Surfari
This banner features the debut of the event-exclusive 5* character “Splish-Splash Wavechaser” Mualani (hydro/catalyst). This banner also features the debut of a new 4* character “Mottled Gold Yet Unsmelted” Kachina (geo/polearm), who was revealed during the Natlan preview teaser.
Mualani will be accompanied by the 4* characters “Mottled Gold Yet Unsmelted” Kachina (geo/polearm), “Blazing Riff” Xinyan (pyro/claymore), and “Trial by Fire” Bennett (pyro/sword), who will receive a huge drop-rate boost. These 4* characters except Kachina are also permanently available in the Standard Wish – Wanderlust Invocation without any boosted drop rates. Kachina will be available in the Standard Wish – Wanderlust Invocation after version 5.0.
Genshin Impact Version 5.0 Phase 1 Second Character banner: Leaves in the Wind
This banner features the fourth rerun of “Scarlet Leaves Pursue Wild Waves” Kaedehara Kazuha (anemo/sword) since his release back in Version 1.6. This banner also features the debut of a new 4* character “Mottled Gold Yet Unsmelted” Kachina (geo/polearm), who was revealed during the Natlan preview teaser.

Genshin Impact Version 5.0 Phase 1 Weapon banner: Epitome Invocation
This banner introduces the new 5* weapon Surf’s Up (catalyst) which is the signature weapon for Mualani. This banner also features the rerun of Freedom-Sworn (sword), the signature best-in-slot weapon for Kazuha.
This banner also features the 4-star weapons Favonius Sword (sword), Favonius Greatsword (claymore), Dragon’s Bane (polearm), Sacrificial Fragments (catalyst), and The Stringless (bow) all of them will receive a huge drop-rate boost.

Why you should go for Mualani or Kazuha in Genshin Impact Version 5.0
Mualani is the first event-exclusive 5* character from Natlan, bringing a new and unique playstyle as well as a shark that can function as a mount in the overworld and above water. The convenience of overworld exploration alone can be a great reason to pull for her, however, you are advised to wait a few days to see if she is worth pulling.
Kazuha has been a top-tier buffer for any elemental team and he will probably continue to be so. It is always worth pulling for Kazuha and his constellations up to C2. Among the 4* characters, Kachina will be given away for free by progressing through the Archon Quest. Bennett is another top-tier ATK buffer/healer. Xinyan is one of the worst characters ever.
As for the weapons, Freedom Sworn is the best-in-slot for Kazuha, it can also be a great option for Kuki Shinobu in Hyperbloom teams. Surf’s Up is the signature weapon for Mualani and no one else so far can best utilize this weapon. Among the 4* weapons, all of them except Favonius’s Greatsword are amazing for support characters.
