A confidential 70-page document titled ‘Games Futures‘ has been leaked, which shows Google’s ambition that was not final but seemed like a start towards becoming ‘world’s largest gaming platform’, The Verge reports.
Google planned to turn every device into a console
The ambitious document reveals Google’s future plans of building a massive gaming platform. The document was uncovered when Epic Games sued Apple in October 2020 over its app store. It reveals a five-year plan, which included bringing multiple platforms such as Mac, Windows, Android, and even TV together under Google Services with a universal portable game controller that gamers can pair with any platform and target players across every screen.
The first step includes bringing ’emulated, native and streamed games’ to Windows and bringing games to Mac, which is mostly a double-take when it comes to gaming platforms. Google’s ‘Games Futures’ plan may have that take turned around.

The mostly redacted document included that the service would also provide ‘cross-screen input’ and that Google would also establish its Play Store as an ‘Indie game destination‘.
The basic ambition was to bring players under this service across all platforms. Stadia silently introduced glimpses of this plan, but it was nothing compared to the massive intel that has been unearthed now.
A page in the document titled ‘Platform expansion and commoditization’ explains how the service can earn profits by providing a multi-platform experience and including esports and community events.
Final Thoughts
It is to be noticed that a lot of information has been blacked out of the document, mostly includes pages where there might be a detailed description of their outlined ambition. This admittedly huge plan to turn every device into a gaming platform might not seem as flexible, for every game will have its own adaptability. But it is certainly a great step towards bringing a maximum of players together and might as well ultimately turn into the largest gaming platform in the world.
