On March 14, 2024, Lee Woo-ri, the Korean-based voice actor known for voicing the Korean version of ‘Cyno‘ in Genshin Impact, sadly passed away. Aged 24, the news of his unexpected demise was conveyed by voice actor and fellow friend Lee Dal-lae via her Instagram account.
The cause of Lee Woo-ri’s death isn’t specified yet
Lee Woo-ri, who was born on February 8, 2000, was considered one of the rising talents in Korean voice acting. He made his debut with Tooniverse in 2021 at the young age of 21, which made news a remarkable achievement since it made him the youngest male voice actor ever to be accepted by CJ ENM, one of Korea’s leading mass media companies.
Lee Woo-ri’s notable works include voicing characters such as the five-star Electro character Cyno in Genshin Impact and Lord Oyster in Cookie Run: Kingdom in Korean. Additionally, he contributed to children’s programming, lending his voice to characters like Kitty Scale and James in the Korean dub of Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go, Great Detective Conan, Crayon Shin-Chan, and The Haunted House, which were all high-scale projects.
While penning a goodbye note for her friend, Dal-Lae wrote on her Instagram: “Although his sudden departure brings great sadness, we believe that continuing to grieve will not allow our affectionate friend to depart peacefully. So now, we choose to cherish the precious memories he left us. We ask everyone who loved us to pray for our peaceful journey.”
While the exact cause of his death has not been disclosed, it is to be known that the funeral arrangements for Lee Woo-ri will remain private, with only close family and friends attending to it. It is indeed sad news that our industry’s talented artist left us too soon, with so much potential left behind. May he rest in peace.
