Minecraft is being offered as an optional course in the University in China

Students can carry out various creations in the Minecraft world to earn credits!

Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world developed by Mojang Studios. In this game, players create and break apart different kinds of blocks in three-dimensional worlds. The game has two modes namely Survival and Creative. Minecraft is popular and evergreen among almost all age groups who are video game enthusiasts. NetEase recently announced a collaboration with the Xiamen University of China to allow the students to learn about Minecraft through an optional course.

Xiamen University is an educational institute in China that has launched a new university course to learn about Minecraft in collaboration with NetEase which manages the publishing of the game in the country. It will be funded by a government sponsorship that focuses on education. This initiative was announced by the company on Weibo on June 22.

Minecraft is very famous especially among students due to its creative potential. The game has always been committed to the development of the developer ecosystem. It plans on doing so by injecting vitality into the creation ecosystem through a comprehensive university support environment and also by encouraging more college students to create content through the Minecraft development workbench to invest in the UGC program.

In this optional course, which is known as an Interactive design case study, the students will learn how to implement all kinds of wild ideas with the help of multiple Minecraft case studies. A Minecraft game designer from NetEase will also be appointed as a selective instructor to teach the students how to operate the official editing tools in the game. According to NetEase, Xiamen University will not be the only university to collaborate with Minecraft and they plan on having more universities join their initiative in the future.
