The developers have now shared new details about the mode’s return this year.

It will feature new additions and improvements, allowing both veteran/ returning players, as well as newcomers, to enjoy a more exciting and challenging battlefield experience. In this article, we’ll explore everything you need to know about the return of Mobile Legends Survival Mode this year.

Mobile Legends Survival Mode: Overview and New additions

Besides its original release in 2018, Survival Mode made a comeback in 2021 as Survival: Nexus. In this version, players could only use Beatrix, with each player selecting a different weapon form to create unique play styles. The mode was well-received as it created memorable battles across the Land of Dawn. This year’s Survival Mode will introduce its own unique gameplay mechanics and map features, promising an even more thrilling experience for all players.

The timelines and new additions in the Mobile Legends Survival Mode include the following:

1. Maps

During Phase 1, the Devs showcased early prototype designs for the old Minoan Labyrinth. The Survival Mode new map will retain the overall style, with major focus on map lore and zone design. Lore-wise, the story will take place in the deeper layers of the Minoan Labyrinth.

The new battlefield map is divided into 3 distinct zones, showcasing varying monsters and map features. Each zone contains 1 high-level resource point and several low-level ones. The higher the tier of the resource point, the higher the level of the spawned monsters and chests, and the higher the income. The zones are as follows:

  • Grassland: Features plenty of bushes, focusing on ganks and ambushes. The atmosphere is tense, as enemies might pop out from unexpected corners. Fighter, Assassin, and Tank heroes have the advantage in this zone.
  • Lab Zone: Roads and walls are neatly arranged (lots of obstacles). Monsters in this zone consist mostly of ranged Mages. The terrain has open vision as it has few bushes, giving marksman heroes the advantage.
  • Wilderness: Features many terrain mechanics (traps, slowing swamps, etc.). Monsters here come with control abilities, and combat relies more on kiting using the terrain. Team coordination and effort are the key in this zone.

2. Number of Players

After proper deliberation, the devs have concluded that this new Survival Mode will feature 12 teams of 3, totaling 36 players. 36 players ensure enough combat density, so there are fights in the early, mid, and late game. At the same time, it won’t devolve into chaos from the start, giving every team room to farm.

3. Spawn Points

During Phase 1, the Devs planned on “replacing fixed Spawn Points with 12 randomized preset locations”. Here are the details:

  • There are 12 sets of preset Spawn Points across the map, which the system will randomly assign to the 12 teams at the start of each match.
  • The 3 players of the same team will spawn at the same set of Spawn Points.
  • The distance from each Spawn Point to the nearest monster is roughly the same, ensuring a fair start with no “lucky spots”.
  • There are fewer bushes around Spawn Points (so you won’t get ambushed as soon as you land), but walls are placed to guide your exploration.

4. Evacuation

This gameplay mechanic focuses on team coordination and effort.

  • Evacuation points activate after the battle reaches a certain stage – either when the final Boss is defeated, or 2 minutes after the final Boss’s defeat.
  • Evacuation points come in two types, which determine the amount of supplies you can carry out.
  • Intact evacuation point (higher carry limit)
  • Dilapidated evacuation point (lower carry limit)
  • Up to 2 evacuation points will be active at a time.
  • Once you reach an evacuation point, any teammate can channel an evacuation to begin the process, and the whole team will evacuate together.
  • Nearby allies within a certain range can evacuate together. Upon evacuation, the system will automatically calculate your team’s points.
  • Successfully evacuated teams will receive a Power Boost at the start of the next match based on the amount of supplies carried out (thus rewarding coordinated evacuation).

5. Match Results

  • After each match ends, that is, whether all team members are eliminated, time runs out, or the entire team evacuates. You and your teammates will enter the results screen
  • You can view your team points from the Match Results section.
  • Key match info: kills, assists, and equipment will also be displayed.
  • Supplies carried out will be automatically sold and converted into points.

6. Supplies

This new mechanic is coming to the Survival Mode. In each match, apart from equipment, players will also obtain supplies. You can carry this resource out of the match to progress through the mode’s exclusive event. There are 3 ways to get supplies:

Kill Monsters: When a monster dies, it drops supplies nearby. Players will automatically pick them up by walking close. If multiple players trigger the pickup, the team that landed the kill gets priority; if tied, the closest player gets it.

Activate Magic Circles: There are a few magic circles in the match. Players can charge them by staying on top of them. Once fully charged, it activates and grants supplies. Charging stops if multiple teams occupy it at the same time.

Kill Other Players: Defeated enemies drop all supplies except those stored in their safe box. Depending on their value, supplies are of 5 different tiers.

  • Tier 1: Rations, Simple Tool Kit
  • Tier 2: Ancient Tree Root, Cloud Clay Pot
  • Tier 3: Windstorm Bottle, Fire Fang
  • Tier 4: Golden Statue, Trial Bell
  • Tier 5: Jade Horn, Eye of Foresight

Your Inventory can hold 8 supplies and 1 safe box. Upon death, you will instantly drop all supplies except those in the safe box. You cannot place Tier 5 supplies in the safe box. Therefore, protecting top-tier supplies requires winning in combat.

7. Equipment Acquisition

  • Rules like Kill drops, free to equip, and droppable equipment is still doable in this mode.
  • When a monster is killed, the dropped equipment will appear as an icon on the ground.
  • Players can walk close to pick it up and equip it (or drop it if it doesn’t fit their build).
  • Dropped equipment will automatically disappear if not picked up within 30 seconds (the timer resets if a player picks it up and drops it again).

Opinions/Thoughts on the MLBB Survival Mode

The revamped Survival Mode introduces exciting new gameplay mechanics and a fresh battle experience. While the number of players has been reduced to 36, the change gives everyone more time to gather resources, level up, and prepare for intense encounters with enemy players.

The new Supplies system also adds greater depth to matches, making every elimination more meaningful. This encourages better teamwork, reduces reckless play, and rewards squads that coordinate effectively to earn higher points by the end of the match.
