SpotX Games is a Miami-based startup that creates fun AR games using Web3 technology which has joined Niantic
Niantic announced at the Lightship Summit 2022 that the SpotX Games team, a Miami-based augmented reality game firm that makes Web3 and NFTs accessible to everyone, has joined the Niantic family. SpotX Games has a strong following in the Web3 community and shares Niantic’s goal of delivering fun, real-world gameplay adventures through augmented reality while promoting community participation.
SpotX Games was created in January 2022 by Galina Fendikevich, Traci Levine, Jackson Harris, Chris Daniels, and David Woodward, a tiny but mighty team of five who met during Miami Hack Week. Chris, a Miami Tech alumnus and founder of The Shrimp Society, a non-profit that assists early-stage entrepreneurs, hosted a “hack” house that brought together coders and creatives from all walks of life.
A unifying concept emerged during a brainstorming session: to establish a scavenger hunt across the many “hack” residences, with players charged with uncovering concealed QR codes containing NFTs and collecting as many as they could. Shrimp Games, as it was known, was the talk of Hack Week, inspiring the crew to stick together and begin development on SpotX Games.
