Pokemon GO has brought the players, a variety of events and activities in January. Over the next few weeks, the Pokemon mobile game will be holding new legendary Pokemon raids, January Community Day, and a few other in-game events. And along with that Niantic has announced that they will be holding a Pokemon GO Community Day Classic featuring yet another favorite Pokemon: Porygon!

On Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, Porygon will appear more frequently in the wild! Moreover, if you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one as well!

Porygon-Z
To ensure that the Porygon evolves into Porygon-Z with the exclusive Charged Attack Tri Attack, players need to make sure to evolve Porygon2 either during the designated event or within the two-hour window immediately following the event. This will guarantee that the Porygon-Z inherits the sought-after Tri Attack move, maximizing the benefits of the evolution.
Dragon Pulse
- Trainer Battles: 65 power and has a chance of lowering the opposing Pokémon’s Attack and Defense
- Gyms and raids: 75 power
Event Bonuses in Pokemon GO Community Day Classic: Porygon
- 3× XP for catching Pokémon
- Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Take a few snapshots during the Community Day Classic for a surprise!
Community Day Classic Special Research story
- For the cost of US$1.00 or the equivalent amount in your local currency, players will gain access to the exclusive Special Research story for the Porygon Community Day Classic.
- Players now can buy and share event tickets with friends who have attained a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher. To send a ticket, simply access the in-game shop, select the Special Research ticket, and click on the Gift button instead of the Buy button.
It is to be acknowledged that tickets are nonrefundable, with considerations for applicable law and the exceptions outlined in the Terms of Service. It should be noted that the Special Research associated with this event does not incorporate an in-game medal.
Apart from these, during the period from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, a Timed Research will be accessible, offering three Upgrades and three Sinnoh Stones as rewards. Additionally, there will be Community Day Classic-themed Field Research available. Players can earn rewards by capturing Porygon, including extra encounters with Porygon, Stardust, Great Balls, and more.
