With a fantasy event full of fairies and dragons, Pokemon GO is kicking off the new year. Due to the increased possibilities of obtaining a shiny Dedenne and double XP payouts, both Fairy and Dragon-type Pokemon will be prominent during the Twinkling Fantasy event in Pokemon GO.
From Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, January 16, 2023, at 10:00 p.m. local time, the Twinkling Fantasy Event will be underway. At this time, Pokemon caught with good, outstanding, or superb throws will grant players twice as much experience. Trainers who have reached level 31 have a higher probability of receiving Candy XL for certain throws as well as receiving more candy overall.

Mega Salamence will make its Pokémon GO debut in Mega Raids of the Pokemon GO Twinkling Fantasy event running from Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, January 16, 2023, at 10:00 p.m. local time.

- Gyms and raids: 140 power
Event Bonuses
- 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.
- Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.
- Additional Candy for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.
Finally, You might have a surprise encounter with a Dragon- or Fairy-type Pokémon when you take a snapshot during the Twinkling Fantasy event! Also, an event-themed Collection Challenge is coming where trainers have to complete the Twinkling Fantasy Collection Challenge to receive 50 Salamence Mega Energy, a Charged TM, and a Fast TM.
