This July 2021 will be one of the biggest months of the year for Pokemon Go, as it marks the fifth anniversary of the game’s release. While Pokemon Go Fest is one of the events to look forward to, it’s not the only event or update coming in the game. Pokemon Go upcoming events in July 2021
1. July Research Breakthrough encounters
From Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. to Sunday, August 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. PDT, players will encounter Rufflet in Research Breakthrough encounters. Moreover, throughout July, they also receive a free Remote Raid Pass when they achieve a Research Breakthrough. Not only that, Double XP for Research Breakthroughs will also continue throughout this month as part of the Season of Discovery.
2. Featured Pokemon in raids
The following Pokémon will be appearing in five-star raids throughout July 2021.
- Bidoof will be appearing in five-star raids on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time. Here you may encounter a Shiny Bidoof if you are lucky enough.
- The Mythical Pokémon Deoxys will be appearing in its Defense Forme in five-star raids. The raids will be from Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. to Friday, July 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
- The Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo will be appearing in five-star raids. These raids will be from Friday, July 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Friday, July 23, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time. Just like Bidoof, you may encounter a Shiny Mewtwo too if you are lucky! Also, different Pokémon will also be appearing in five-star raids on the second day of Pokémon GO Fest 2021. So keep an eye out for these raids to get good rewards! Only Mewtwo will appear as a GO Battle League encounter for Trainers ranked 20 and above on the second day of the fest.
Moreover, the following Mega-Evolved Pokémon will be appearing in Mega Raids:
- Mega Houndoom will appear in Mega Raids from July 1, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. to July 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
- The Mega Gengar will emerge in Mega Raids from July 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to July 23, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
- Mega Charizard X will appear in Mega Raids from Friday, July 23, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Friday, August 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
Things don’t end here in this event. Every Wednesday in July, a Raid Hour event will occur from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time. The following Pokémon will be featured in these raids.
- Wednesday, July 7, 2021: Defense Forme Deoxys
- Wednesday, July 14, 2021: Defense Forme Deoxys
- Wednesday, July 21, 2021: Mewtwo

3. July Community Day
Niantic has recently announced that the Pokemon Go July 2021 Community Day will feature Tepig – the Fire Pig Pokémon. The Tepig Community Day takes place on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. In this event, Shiny Tepig will appear, and Emboar evolved during event hours that knows the Charged Attack Blast Burn.
4. Pokémon Go 5th anniversary celebration
From Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time, Pokémon GO will be celebrating its five-year anniversary! Trainers can commemorate the occasion by participating in the fifth-anniversary celebration in Pokémon GO, which including the following benefits:
- Jump-Start Special Research for any Trainers who missed out on it during last year’s anniversary celebration. Trainers must open the app during this event to claim it.
- Darumaka, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, and Flying Pikachu with a 5-shaped balloon will be appearing in one-star raids.
- Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie will be appearing after Trainers complete Field Research.
- Starting at the beginning of the event, Trainers will be able to expand their Item Bag to 3,500.
- Fifth-anniversary Gift stickers, updates to item-box contents, and more.

5. Go Battle Night
The second Go Battle Night of the season will take place on July 11, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. local time. Players have to complete up to 100 battles in this event. They will receive three times the Stardust for winning battles, completing sets of battles, and ranking up in the Go Battle League. Also, the Stardust bonus during GO Battle Night will not combine with the 2× Stardust bonus for this event that will be active from Monday, June 28, 2021, to Monday, July 12, 2021.
6. Pokemon Go Fest 2021
The largest event of the year is almost knocking on the door. The fest will take place on July 17, 2021, and July 18, 2021. Each day of this fest will provide a unique experience to the players. The announcement was made back in April and a couple of months later, the Trainers now have the details regarding this major event. Pokemon Go Fest will feature all the Legendary Pokémon discovered in Pokemon Go ever since the launch in the upcoming Pokemon Go Fest 2021 Raid Day
