- Nexon CEO confirmed that Project DX is still in development, though progress has been slower than Project DW
- The project was confirmed to be in the works by Nexon back in November 2022
- There are also rumours circulating that hinted at a January 2025 release
Fans of Durango: Wild Lands have been eagerly awaiting news of Nexon’s upcoming MMORPG, Project DX. Originally speculated as having similar survival and crafting elements to its predecessor, the excitement has been building since the initial reveal back in August 2021. However, development seems to have hit a few bumps along the way, but updates regarding Project DX are expected to be coming soon.
CEO confirms the game is in the works, more info about Project DX to be disclosed soon
In a recently held event, Nexon CEO Lee Jung-heon addressed that Project DX is still in development, but he mentioned that progress has been slower compared to other titles like Project DW. However, Lee Jung-heon assured me that more information about Project DX will be disclosed “in the near future.”
This title is based on the same IP as Durango, which was shut down in late 2019. The project was confirmed to be in the works by Nexon back in November 2022. However, over the past two years, there wasn’t any communication by the dev team regarding the same, as fans waited for significant updates.
Alongside the announcement of the game, a teaser trailer for Project DX was released a couple of years ago. We could see there were some similarities with the original game, but that was it for the updates. I think that Nexon may provide further updates during its upcoming G-STAR 2024 event, which could give fans something to look forward to. However, this is just my speculation, so take it with a grain of salt.
Fans who loved Durango have been patiently hoping Project DX would provide a similar experience, but delays have tested that patience. There were also rumors circulating earlier this year that hinted at a January 2025 release, but with recent development slowdowns, it seems unlikely. Here’s hoping that we get the updates of the game soon, officially, and play it on our mobile devices.
