Rec Room, the top platform for virtual worlds, games, and user-generated content, has announced a number of spooky activities in collaboration with Haunt Society, the most prestigious directory of haunted houses in the world, just in time for Halloween 2022. Rec Room users can now visit the first-ever online haunted house approved by the Haunt Society and join other fright-seekers for a virtual showing of 2014 found footage horror movie The Houses October Built.

Players of the Rec Chamber will access “The House of Terror” via the brand-new Haunt Society room. They will find a twisting path that leads to a space station that has been abandoned and is now inhabited by the spirits of cosmic expeditions gone horribly wrong. The undead and their extraterrestrial captors like to scare people, so this encounter is not for the faint of heart.
Rec Room Studio, a forthcoming Unity-based feature set that includes all new potent creation tools for developers to construct and publish rooms using the power of the Unity Editor, was used to create The House of Terror. The early private beta program has attracted more than 5,000 participants, and those who are interested in learning more can sign up at the official website.
Virtual screening of “The Houses October Built,” a 2014 found-footage horror movie from the makers of Insidious and Paranormal Activity, is available to Rec Room players in addition to The House of Terror. Zack Andrews and Bobbe Roe, the co-founders of the Haunt Society, directed and wrote the film. In the movie, a group of friends is searching for the ideal haunted house attraction when they encounter strange occurrences.
Players seeking even greater thrills can now take part in “Invasion,” a brand-new, momentary event in Rec Room. In 30 certain UGC rooms, unknown power cores will materialize as a result of the invasion.
In order to find them, players will need to work with Rec Room’s Science Department; those who are successful will gain experience points and sought-after gifts. By October 20 at 11 p.m. Pacific Time, enter the competition to win a genuine 12-foot-tall skeleton.
