Summoners War: Awakening, a new comic book series based on the wildly popular MMORPG mobile game, has been announced by Skybound and video game publisher Com2uS. With colors by Igor Monti, the series reteams the all-star duo behind Summoners War: Legacy, Justin Jordan, and Luca Claretti (Radiant Black). On April 19, 2023, comic book stores will open its doors for Summoners War: Awakening #1.

Return to the planet of Alea, where armies that summon magical creatures to fight one another in a combat that seems never to stop is at war. With soldiers on the ground, sky pirates in the clouds, and a bounty hunter hot on their heels, newly trained summoner Rai and her comrades are currently stranded deep inside enemy territory. In the upcoming installment of the action-packed Summoners War story, meet new companions, fresh enemies, and formidable beasts.
“I’m so excited to explore more of Summoners War in this new series,” said Skybound Editor, Amanda LaFranco. “As a personal fan of all things in the fantasy genre, Summoners War is one of those projects that lets you go big and bold, and really expand out a world, but I also really love Rai’s tenacity and Tomas’ cynicism. They’ll have to learn a lot from each other from this arc, and Justin and Luca have developed so many cool new characters and set pieces. The title of Arc 2, ‘Awakening’, was determined by the stories that Rai and Tomas got matured as a summoner and human being through the Arc 2 story. Any fantasy fan can pick this up and enjoy diving into this world.”
Following Skybound’s prior comic book series Legacy and the newest new mobile game, Summoners War: Chronicles, both launched in November 2022, the Summoners War: Awakening comic series is the most recent addition to the Summoners War IP. The range of expansions is evidence of the game’s popularity and longevity, which makes it a key component of Com2uS’ gaming lineup.
Com2us and Skybound have collaborated on projects such as the Walking Dead mobile games and the Summoners War comics. Com2uS is expanding its business beyond mobile games to become a Global Media Contents Company that offers a variety of forms of entertainment. Summoners War: Awakening #1 will be available at comic book shops and digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
