SQUARE ENIX’s free-to-play JRPG, Romancing SaGa: Re;univerSe, to shutdown its Global version on December 1, 2024

Another one bites the dust!

Story Highlights
  • Romancing SaGa: Re;univerSe is a free-to-play turn-based Japanese RPG.
  • The Japanese version will still be available after Global version's shutdown.
  • You can no longer purchase end of sale item as of September 29.

SQUARE ENIX has announced the global version of its JRPG, Romancing SaGa: Re;univerSe will shutdown service on December 1, 2024, after four years of service. The game just recently celebrated its fourth anniversary this year.

With the global version shutting down, players are switching to the JP version in despair

Romancing SaGa: Re;univerSe is a free-to-play JRPG mobile Gacha title by Square Enix and Akatsuki. Also known as SaGaRs by fans, the game recently celebrated its 4th Anniversary. In this game, you take the role of Polka and go on a quest to rescue Liz, the “500th Child“, while teaming up with the Grave Knights along the journey.

Unfortunately, SQUARE ENIX has recently announced that the global version of the JRPG will terminate its services. It will be removed from the App Stores on December 1, 2024, and in-game purchases will no longer be available after September 29.

Romancing SaGa: Re;univerSe is an enjoyable free-to-play title with a very generous Gacha system; however, it was solely running on the JP version’s revenue, and this was expected to happen. In my opinion, SQUARE ENIX could have saved this title.

You can still access the game through your Google Play Store or App Store if you want to try it one last time. Or you can switch to the Japanese version as many fans are also planning to do the same.
