East Side Games Group, Canada’s leading free-to-play mobile gaming company, has announced a multi-year deal with ViacomCBS Consumer Products for the global distribution of an upcoming Star Trek: Lower Decks-themed mobile game on iOS and Android. The Mighty Kingdom and East Side Games Group (ESGG) have teamed together to create three games based on original intellectual property and licensed franchises.
The title to incorporate characters and lore from the popular series
We now know that one of the games hinted at by the duo will be a free-to-play mobile game based on the adult animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, thanks to a recent press release. The mobile game will incorporate characters and tales from throughout the series, reimagined for fans via the perspective of Star Trek: Lower Decks, in addition to the narratives and characters from Star Trek: Lower Decks.
The planned game is touted as a themed idle game that will be available for free on mobile devices. Darcy Taylor, ESGG’s Chief Executive Officer, also issued a remark regarding the future game in the press announcement:
“The Star Trek franchise has had an unmistakable influence on adults and children alike for over 50 years. Being able to bring such a storied franchise to mobile in our trademark idle-game style is an honor for us here at ESGG. We’re looking forward to sharing this new experience in the Star Trek franchise with everyone from new audiences to Star Trek super fans.”
The game is already up for pre-registrations
Lower Decks is a Star Trek series in the vein of Rick & Morty and Solar Opposites. This makes sense, given that it was created by Mike McMahan, a writer on the former and the inventor of the latter. It’s a wacky and silly show. It is set in 2380 and follows the exploits of a support crew aboard the USS Cerritos, one of Starfleet’s less important ships. There are two seasons available as of now.
While no specific release date for the game has been announced, the press release indicates that it will be available for iOS and Android devices in 2022. interested players can pre-register from the Google Play Store and App Store, and can visit the game’s official website for more details.
