Dicero Review: A fun bite-sized roguelite packed with HABBY’s familiar charm

A fun roguelite experience!

Dicero is the latest casual roguelite adventure title from HABBY, the creator of the Archero series and Capybara Go!. In this Dicero review, I will share my impressions of the game and provide an honest rating.

For this review, I played Dicero on my Samsung A33 Android device, logging 20 hours of playtime. This allowed me to fully explore and experience everything the game has to offer, giving me enough time for a fair and detailed review.

Fast-paced and engaging roguelite gameplay keeps every run fun

Starting with the review, let’s dive into the gameplay experience of Dicero first. I like how you can jump straight into the main gameplay with a very short tutorial, unlike most games. So, yes, for me, the unboarding experience was pretty smooth since the gameplay is quite straightforward.

And I actually found the roguelite gameplay quite engaging, as it gets challenging as you progress further through the stages. Plus, every run feels different, as you can select skills of varying rarities from Treasures, the toad Roulette, or the Angel, so the replayability wise too there’s plenty on offer.

The dice rerolling mechanic and boss battles enhance the experience. But I must say that bosses like the Frosthorn Minotaur are really tough to beat, and you get this very satisfying feeling when you finally defeat them.

Simple but captivating visuals perfectly complemented by fitting audio

When it comes to visuals, the game does a decent job despite not being very graphics-heavy. I love how it carries HABBY’s familiar art style but with an anime-like touch. The animations also feel smooth, and the vibrant anime-style presentation complements the casual gameplay, enough to keep you engaged.

And as for audio, it fits well with the gameplay, and to me, it never felt distracting during my gameplay sessions. While the background sound and music are simple, it is quite effective, and you won’t have to mute them, unlike some games, to enjoy the gameplay. So, it does the job well.

Clean UI and smooth controls make it easy to enjoy

And I think the UI is another area where Dicero has done a great job. I mean, everything looks very clean, straightforward, and easy to understand, which in a way also fits the game’s casual aspect. Here, menus are uncluttered, and I found the icons easy to identify, so navigating through sections like Gear feels smooth.

And considering most of the gameplay revolves around you tapping on skills and selecting what dice to attach them to, you won’t have to worry about controls. And everything felt responsive to me during the gameplay sessions.

Fair monetization that does not feel too aggressive

Like most HABBY games, Dicero also includes several in-app purchases through the in-game Shop and offers. So, you can spend on Stage packs, Gear chests, and other items if you want. That said, I never felt forced to spend my money, especially during the initial stages.

You can enjoy the F2P approach without spending a dime. And, even if you decide to spend a little, the prices are low compared to other similar titles, so it won’t hurt your bank account. It does help you progress faster, no doubt in that, but I really don’t think it’s required to spend your hard-earned money here.

Final Verdict

Overall, DICERO is genuinely a fun casual roguelite with quick sessions, anime-like art, and unique runs. Just like Archero 2 and other titles from HABBY, it quickly grows on you once you start dominating the stages, making it hard to put down. You’ll surely love the boss battles in the final levels here.

Plus, there is no loading wait time or cutscenes, so you can directly dive into the gameplay, and with the variety of gear, talents, and cosmetics to unlock, you won’t get bored that easily. That’s why, if you like casual games, roguelites, or enjoy trying HABBY games, you should definitely check out Dicero.

Good

Dicero offers an engaging roguelite experience with straightforward gameplay, vibrant visuals, and fast-paced, unique runs. While it is not the most visually advanced game, it beautifully carries HABBY's charm, and the engaging gameplay loop and overall content make it a fun experience overall.
