Midnight Society, the AAA game studio co-founded by Dr Disrespect, has severed ties with the streamer following serious allegations.
A former Twitch employee spilled the details, accusing Dr. Disrespect of “sexting a minor”
The allegations were first called out by a former Twitch employee named Cody Conners, who posted on X that Beahm sexted with a minor via Whispers, Twitchâs now-defunct messaging system, and said this was what caused his permanent ban in 2020. However, what’s to note is that he directly didn’t name him.
Another Twitch employee corroborated the claims as reported by the Verge, and said that the streamer initiated a conversation about meeting up at TwitchCon. As these events unfolded, Midnight Society decided to investigate and then released the announcement via X.
Even though Beahm denied involvement in any such wrongdoings, the studio decided to terminate relations with him to uphold its principles and protect its employees and the community.
The very same day that Beahm announced his termination, he expressed that he didn’t do anything wrong or that was illegal. He also indicated that because of legal obligations from the settlement during his removal from Twitch, he can’t reveal the details.
Dr Disrespect has had his fair share of controversies
Herschel Guy Beahm, who goes by Dr Disrespect, is a popular video game streamer, and to be fair, he has had his fair share of controversies before this. He and Ferg, a popular Call of Duty Mobile streamer, had a short internet beef where Ferg threw an open challenge of $100K as the former had called out mobile gamers, questioning their legitimacy as “real” gamers, where eventually, Ferg won the match which was a kill race event.
The current controversy dates back to 2020, when Dr. Disrespect was banned by Twitch for unknown reasons in June 2020. A year later, he announced that knew the reason behind his ban, and forward to March 2022, he said he was moving on as the disputes were resolved.
Meanwhile, Midnight Society is an AAA game development studio announced on December 14, 2021, which was founded by industry veteran Robert Bowling, Dr Disrespect, and Quinn DelHoyo, with Sumit Gupta as the co-founder and CEO. They are currently developing DEADROP, a vertical extraction shooter.
