Mobile Legends MPL-ID Season 12 is over and the reign of ONIC Esports continues, as the team have become the champions. This is the fifth time that ONIC has won the MPL-ID trophy in the event’s 12 seasons. The grand final of MPL Indonesia took place today where ONIC defeated Geek Fam ID by a scoreline of 4-2. Also, this is the team’s third consecutive MPL trophy.
However, both the finalists will be directly heading to the most prestigious and grand event of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Esports in 2023, the M5 World Championship 2023. Before the event closed its shutters, it started on the 13th of July 2023.
ONIC Esports: Campaign of the champions of MPL-ID Season 12
The event started with 9 teams as the participants. After the end of the regular season, only 6 teams remained to advance to the playoff stage. The battle started then from the Play-In stage. ONIC did not have to participate as the team was the point leader in the regular season.
They first faced Bigetron Alpha in the upper bracket semifinals where a 3-2 win marked the opponent to move to the lower bracket. Later, the same scoreline again showed up in the upper-bracket final and ONIC moved to the grand finals.
Geek Fam also picked a win in the lower bracket final and moved to the grand final to meet the mighty ONIC again. Destroying their dream to take revenge, ONIC dominated throughout the first three rounds. After five games, the scoreline was 3-2 and Geek Fam was looking strong. However, MPL-ID Season 12 champion ONIC Esports did not let things go out of hand, so the team took round 6 to win the champion title.
The long run comes to an end, the next stop is the M5 World Championship
The event crossed more than four months of runtime. But the challenge doesn’t stop here as the M5 Worlds is knocking at the doorstep of both the qualified teas. Being one of the strongest regions in the Mobile Legends professional esports scenario, fans will expect a lot from the country representatives. Winning three consecutive domestic significant titles will be a mental boost for the teams in the coming event in November.
