Captain Tsubasa Ace: The Complete Player Guide with Tips

All you need to know about your players!

Captain Tsubasa: Ace has finally received its global launch, as the action-packed football journey from DeNA is already hitting your phone screens. This isn’t your ordinary football game, as it does have the core gameplay but deviates to a more visual experience. Still, in the game, players play a crucial role in the overall system and tactics. It’s essential to have well-trained and adaptable players. That’s why I have come up with this Captain Tsubasa Ace Player Guide to help you maximize your players’ potential and strategic impact with some important tips for you to remember.

Captain Tsubasa Ace Player Basics

Introduction

Players in Captain Tsubasa Ace are the same as we expect in a regular football game, having attack, defense, and goalkeeping stats with amazing skill moves in their arsenal. First, let me explain the basic breakdown of different positions in this game, with positions namely Forward (FW), Midfielder (MF), Defender (DF), and Goalkeeper (GK). Whether Left Back or Midfield on the Right, you will use a designated player itself. Each player will have a fixed position and skillset, which cannot be changed.

Recruit and Team Lineup

Recruitment is pretty simple in this game, having a gacha mechanic to pull those players to your squad. You have players classified into three tiers: SSR, SR, and R, with SSR being the highest tier of players and R being the lowest in the game. The pulling of players is done via Vouchers, which are of two types: Dream Rally Vouchers and Glorious Journey Vouchers.

After claiming players, head to the Lineup section to view your active lineup and make changes. Tap on a player to access various actions related to that player. You have the option to select your team via Auto Lineup which slots players to your team automatically chosen according to their overall rating, making the process straightforward and ensuring a formidable lineup without the need for manual selection.

Improving Player Abilities

Two important sections have to be accessed by you to get the important items for improving player abilities namely Special Training and Versatile Tactics, both accessible via Football Field Trial. But before that, you need to know about the restraint effect.

Restraint Effect

The Restraint Effect in Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team operates similarly to the mechanics seen in role-playing games (RPGs). It introduces an effect classification system, akin to the classes in RPGs, where each effect corresponds to a specific player attribute. These effects create a cyclical pattern, where a player’s performance is influenced by an opposing player who possesses a counter to that effect.

Engaging with a player who can effectively counter the opponent results in a 15% increase in the success rate for counters where you are against each other. The four primary effect types are Technique, Strength, Speed, and Tenacity, whose counter effects are in the order mentioned. You can check the details for each player with the card indicated at the top left section.

Special Training

In special training, you challenge different style teams to earn potential marks for your players. There are four potential marks available. These marks are crucial for potential breakthroughs that level up your players, upgrading their abilities and restraint effect. Burning Force enhances strength, Jade Technique boosts technique, Blistering Speed improves speed, and Rock-Solid fortifies tenacity, catering to various player types.

Versatile Tactics

You can refine tactics for different players and positions in the versatile tactics mode. The Explosive Attacker focuses on tactics for breaking through defenses, Steel Defense enhances defensive tactics, and the All-Round Team boosts tactics for the entire team. Each challenge comes with specific targets, and reaching them allows you to claim maximum rewards.

Player Attributes, Skills, Tactics, and Training

Player Attributes

Up next in our Captain Tsubasa Ace guide are player Attributes, which are the stats that the players have across multiple parameters. You have four sections to measure them: Attack, Defense, Style, and Physical attributes. This can also be a good measure to compare players of identical positions.

Player Training

Player upgrades are done via the training section of the game. You have Energy Drinks to serve the purpose, which comes with different rarities that grant different amounts of EXP. Consuming these will grant the necessary amount of EXP for a player to level up, and once he reaches a particular level, he will get a chance for a Potential Breakthrough.

Potential Breakthrough is a system where you can increase the rating across multiple attributes while also improving the training level cap for further upgrades of a player. This will also help you reach the level milestones faster, hence unlocking more skills for each player which are locked across different levels.

Player Tactics

Each player will get a chance to be part of a Tactic Plan. This tactic plan is very important since it adds a boost effect to multiple attributes of the player, depending on the Tactical Combo you have. It depends on how you will place the, it can either be a 2-piece tactic set or a 3-piece.

The latter will only be unlocked once the upgrade requirement of the player has been met. You can see the player tactics screen once your tactics have been assigned and see the set effect boost to the player stats. You cannot assign one tactic to different players.

Player Skills

Let us talk about the physical attributes, with the player skills. This becomes important in a match as there are skills that are superior to others, and if your player has a lower-level skill and a weaker one then it will affect you on the pitch as the opponents can easily read the move and get the ball back. You have multiple types of skill moves to use, such as passive and dribble skills.

Upgrading helps in improving the chance of performing successful skill moves. Now, to upgrade the player skill, you shall need the necessary Skill upgrade Prop, for which you have to access the Prop Conversion section. You can unlock all skills as you complete all the levels of Potential Breakthrough of the player.
