Epic Games recently released the brand-new Kymera skin in Fortnite Season 7 which has a ton of customizable options, however, it requires a special item called Alien Artifacts which unlocks additional options. Collecting these items will soon help you to unlock the various parts of the Kymera skin so that it looks just as you like it. What are Alien Artifacts in Fortnite
Alien Artifacts are a new type of currency that one can exchange for the different parts of the Kymera skin. Usually, most Fortnite skins require you to complete challenges with the skin, or earn XP to unlock each of the parts, however, the Kymera skin instead uses a shop system. One can buy the different customizable options of the skin using the Alien Artifacts you have collected. To get to this shop menu, one has to open up the Kymera Battle Pass menu.
How can you obtain Alien Artifacts in Fortnite
There are 2 ways by which players can obtain Alien Artifacts.
- Opening Cosmic Chests
- Collecting the weekly drops around the map
Cosmic chests
These are special chests that appear around the map in specifically the Duos or Trios or even Squads modes. You can take a look at this guide to get complete information on the cosmic chests.
Weekly drops
As for the weekly drops, these are claimable objects that award Alien Artifacts. They appear in various places around the map. Every week, a new batch of Alien Artifacts pop up, and claiming each of them will award you with 4 Alien Artifacts. There is also an expected golden rarity for these canisters, which would award players with 7 Award Artifacts.
Collecting them should be easy, as one approaches the Alien Artifacts. They would begin an animation and produce a faint noise that gets louder as players come near. Furthermore, there is no interaction involved and one can simply just travel through the object, either on foot or even whilst in a car or UFO. This would allow a player to swoop around the map in one heavy rotation picking up all the locations in one game. These are the locations of the Alien Artifacts on the map.
The shop works in such a way, that most of the higher value cosmetic options are locked unless a player unlocks everything that comes before. In addition, the only use for the Artifacts at the moment is for the Kymera skin. As a result, players should look to spend the items as claimed.
