Genshin Impact 2.0 best characters

SS tier – Overpowered characters

Zhongli (Geo, Support)

The Geo archon from Liyue is perhaps Genshin Impact’s strongest defensive support character. Players will no longer have to worry about getting burst by heavy-hitting adversaries thanks to Zhongli’s defensive characteristics, which can easily fit into any comp.

Venti (Anemo, Support)

The Anemo archon from Monstadt was a borderline S-tier to SS-tier character who earned an elemental mastery buff back in patch 1.6. Venti, when properly developed, can fit into most comps and ensure easy AOE clearing of the Spiral Abyss.

Xiangling (Pyro, Support/Sub-DPS)

Xiangling is one of the most famous chefs in Liyue Harbor. She is a 4-star pyro polearm user and is considered one of the strongest Sub-DPS in the game with her consistent pyro damage inflicted with her elemental skill and elemental bursts.

Hu Tao (Pyro, DPS)

Hu Tao, together with Ganyu, has unrivaled dominance in the game’s DPS category. She is a 5-star Pyro polearm wielder that can out-damage most other DPS options on the lower tiers with minimum expenditure.

Ganyu (Cryo, DPS)

Ganyu, as previously said, has unrivaled dominance in terms of DPS scalings. She is a 5-star Cryo bow user who, like Hu Tao, can exceed the majority of DPS characters in terms of damage output.

Bennett (Pyro, Support)

Bennett, albeit being the only 4-star character in this list, is a Pyro support who is unparalleled in his utility potential. He is a 4-star Pyro sword user that has appeared in many banners. Being a 4-star character means that he is much easier to get constellations from. He is a great support who can deal great elemental damage with his skills and burst, and also has a heal to better support the main DPS.

S tier – Strong characters

Kazuha (Anemo, Support/DPS)

Kazuha Genshin Impact

He is a 5-star Anemo sword user, and even though he is relatively new, he has been faring well in the meta of Genshin Impact. He is great at incorporating elemental supports to add more swirl damage, especially to groups of small to medium-sized enemies.

Xiao (Anemo, DPS)

He is a 5-star Anemo polearm wielder who excels as the team’s major damage producer. Xiao is a top-tier DPS character who, with a great build, weapons, and a supportive squad, may be able to compete with higher SS-tier DPS characters.

Fischl (Electro, Support/DPS)

Fischl is a 4-star electro bow user who, just like Sucrose, was at the lower tier before the elemental mastery buffs. With the buff of elemental mastery gained additional damage outputs as a DPS/support for cryo and pyro damage dealers.

Ayaka (Cryo, DPS/Support)

She is the newest character addition in the 2.0 update. Ayaka is an overall strong character, especially as a sub-DPS. Although not as impressive as those in the SS tier, Ayaka can become much more useful and powerful in certain circumstances.

Notable characters

Yanfei (Pyro, DPS)

She is a 4-star pyro character released in update 1.5 that has a rerun in the banner of Ayaka in the 2.0 update. Yanfei may become a force to be reckoned with, due to a great build and a great support team dedicated to bringing out her damage output.

Eula (Cryo, DPS)

Eula, a 5-star cryo claymore wielder, is the most recent character to be released in Genshin Impact. She is capable of doing a lot of damage. However, she does not gain greatly from the 1.6 update buffs, thus she may slip behind those who do, such as Xiao and other elemental DPS, but she is still one of the best DPS characters available.

Final thoughts

All players need to understand that, while tier lists exist, they are not a set standard and may vary from one playstyle to the other. With the appropriate investments and builds, even the weakest characters in tier lists can become at par or even stronger than higher-tier characters.

Genshin Impact is designed to be a quiet and soothing game that we must enjoy as players. Even though we can calculate how much we can optimize our teams, damage outputs, and so on, at the end of the day, the most important aspect of Genshin impact, and any game for that matter, is to have fun and play the game the way we want to play it.
