How to complete the Wherefore Did the Spiritstone Descend World Quest in Genshin Impact
Players will begin by heading in the southwest direction and interact with Zhiqiong. Head south towards the camp with Zhiqiong, and unlock the waypoint along the way. After interacting, players will get more areas revealed on the map. They need to go to the gate that Zhiqiong mentioned. Go down and break the wall with the help of geo bombs. Glide downwards and head north towards the waypoint, and Head west after unlocking the waypoint towards the quest location.
Open the gate mentioned by Zhiqiong
Players need to open the gate with the key to a stone hall after talking to Zhiqiong. Enter the gate and investigate within the gate. Pick up the Lumenstone Ore as it is needed to upgrade the Lumenstone Adjuvant gadget later on. Continue west, jump down and enter the cave. Turn left and activate the waypoint. After the cutscene, more areas will be revealed on the map.
Step 1: Purify the crystal
Players need to purify five large crystals. Head southwest from the current location. Recharge the large crystal with three charges on the gadget and defeat the Electro abyss mage. Refill the charges on your gadget by interacting with the glowing orbs nearby. Stand beside the large crystal and wait for it to reach 100%.

Players need to head south towards the second large crystal. Recharge the large crystal with three charges on the gadget and defeat the electro and Cryo Abyss mage. Refill the charges on your gadget by interacting with the glowing orbs nearby. Activate the mechanism nearby to get an infinite refill on the gadget. Remove the purple blob near the large crystal by using the gadget. Stand beside the large crystal and wait for it to reach 100%.
Step 3: Purify the large crystal
Players need to head east towards the third large crystal. Remove the purple blob near the large crystal by using the gadget. Recharge the large crystal with three charges on the gadget and defeat the rift hounds. Refill the charges on your gadget by interacting with the glowing orbs nearby. Stand beside the large crystal and wait for it to reach 100%.
Step 4: Purify the large crystal
Players need to head northeast towards the fourth large crystal. Activate the mechanism nearby to get an infinite refill on the gadget. The purple blob will keep dropping, so players need to go back and forth between the large crystal and the mechanism to refill charges on your gadget until it reaches 100%. Do not forget to remove the purple blob every time it appears.
Step 5: Purify the large crystal
Players need to head southwest towards the fifth large crystal. Make sure to activate the waypoint as well. Players have to activate the mechanism near the large crystal to get an infinite refill on the gadget. Stand beside the large crystal and wait for it to reach 100%.
Fighting the Ruin Serpent
After talking to Paimon, glide northeast towards the glowing pillar. After the cutscene, players will need to fight a world-class boss, Ruin Serpent. Defeat the monster lurking in The Chasm’s depth. Reduce its HP to around 20%, and the game will enter a cutscene.
Make sure to remove the purple blob on the ground with the gadget to stop the boss from gaining energy. Return to the camp and talk to Zhiqiong. Lastly, players need to teleport back to above ground and talk to Muning to complete the Wherefore Did the Spiritstone Descend world quest. After completing this world quest, players will receive many rewards, namely Adventure EXP x 350, Primogems x 40, Hero’s Wit x 3, Mystic Enhancement Ore x 6, and Mora x 30,000.
