League of Legends: Wild Rift: How to fix high ping issue and have a lag-free game

Say goodbye to lag!

Everyone hates lag, right? Of course. Lag is the biggest enemy of gamers all around the world. All online games suffer from latency issues, be it games like MMORPGs, MOBAs, or competitive team games. League of Legends: Wild Rift is no exception to this. Players in Wild Rift may face lagging problems due to various reasons, depending on region, server status, wi-fi, mobile data, etc. In this post, we will take a look at a few methods that can help reduce the connection issues and fix in-game lag in Wild Rift.

How to fix in-game lag in League of Legends: Wild Rift

1. Lags due to Internet Connectivity

Sometimes, our Wi-Fi can experience connectivity issues, which, in turn, affects the connectivity in Wild Rift. Try switching your connection to 4G/mobile data and then reconnect to Wild Rift. If that does not work, try changing your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

2. Nearest Server

It is very important to ensure that you have chosen the server that’s nearest to you geographically. For example. if you are in Europe, always choose EU servers only. The same goes for NA (North America), CIS ( Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan, Moldavia, Uzbekistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Georgia), SEA (Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam), Oceania (Australia and the surrounding regions), Japan and MENA (the Middle East and North Africa) servers. If you are region locked into a different server, contact Wild Rift Support here.

3. Dual-connectivity mode in-game for reducing lag

If you are experiencing latency issues due to either your mobile data or Wi-Fi failing at random times, then this feature is a boon for you. Dual-Channel communication was introduced in Wild Rift to ensure that if one fails, the other will balance it out. It also connects to the faster of the two modes automatically so you do not have to worry about checking which mode is faster all the time. Here is how you can start using the feature:

  • Log in to Wild Rift
  • Open your Settings Tab
  • Tap the Other button
  • You will see the Dual-channel communication feature there, and you can enable it.
  • Now you’re ready to use Dual-channel communication to ensure a smoother game experience.

4. Avoid using VPN

We understand that players all over the world want to get their hands on Wild Rift because it is such an awesome game. But it is still in the Beta phase, so it is only available in some regions. The players in whose region the game is not available try to get around this by downloading and connecting to it through VPN (Virtual Private Network).

But what this does is just make the game worse for everyone involved in the match. The player using VPN faces high ping issues, while the players not using VPN in the same match also face lag. To reduce it, it is recommended to wait for Wild Rift to release in your region so you can play on the lowest ping possible, and with minimal-to-no lag.

5. Check your Wi-Fi connectivity

The majority of the Wild Rift player base uses Wi-Fi services to play the game. These services though can sometimes be very unreliable. Furthermore, bad Wi-Fi leads to an even worse connection. Hence, before playing a match, always ensure your Wi-Fi is functioning properly. If it isn’t, try to restart the router, and if that doesn’t work, the last resort is to replace it with a better router.

6. Clean your RAM and Background apps regularly

At times, lag can also be caused due to a large number of internet-using apps being in use at the same time. Make sure to clean your phone’s RAM, and also close your background apps. This ensures that no other apps are using your internet connection other than Wild Rift.

That’s it from today’s Wild Rift guide on how to fix high ping and lag issues. Were you able to solve them through any of the above-given methods? Do let us know in the comments!
