From the reports that have emerged online, the deal between FIFA and 2K Games to create the next football experience is all set but done. 2K Games has sealed the FIFA official license deal and the first title in the brand new series, titled FIFA 2K25 will be going live this 2024, although officially, there aren’t any confirmations from both parties yet.
2K Games was the frontrunner in the FIFA official license race
This info was shared by MohPlay on X, 2K has secured the official license from FIFA to create the next FIFA video game. He confirmed that the partnership is official and 2K will be developing a new football game series which is set to launch this year, just in time for the FIFA World Cup 2K26.
To be fair, 2K Games was always the worthwhile name to pick up the official license since Electronic Arts and the international football governing body FIFA ended their licensing agreement in 2022, where the American video game company later headed for a rebrand of their popular FIFA series of games to EA Sports FC.
Alongside the EA Sports FC franchise, the upcoming 2K Games will rival KONAMI’s popular football franchise eFootball, which is one of the best football titles of all time and hands down offers the best experience on mobile platforms. Total Football, Vive Le Football, and Dream League Soccer are other names that strike you, but none of them were able to replicate the performance or popularity of the other two.
Well, 2K Games has experience creating great sports experiences, with examples being the NBA 2K franchise, Topspin 2k25, and others, so 2K25 might be another one of those great experiences too. Surely, the game will be hitting mobile too, and all eyes wait on what this title will bring to the table when it launches.
