Among Us is a murder mystery game by Innersloth, which became very popular worldwide since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The dev team teased new roles in Emergency Meeting #32 held earlier this month. The Shapeshifter is a new role in Among Us that only Imposters can use. The rest of the roles that are yet to be revealed will be for the Crewmates side.
What is the Shapeshifter role in Among Us
As one can understand from the name, the Shapeshifter role allows the imposter to shapeshift. They can pull up a menu and select from the list of alive crewmates in the game and copy their name and appearance. But the shapeshift lasts only for a brief period of time and leaves visible evidence behind.
So the Imposter needs to be very careful because Crewmates can see them shapeshift if they are in their line of view and can also pick up evidence from the surroundings later on.
During meetings, If the Imposter has shapeshifted, they will still appear as their original self. With this new role, the Crewmates will definitely have a hard time finding out the criminal and will make the game even more fun to play.
Among Us: Additional features to the role
Players will be able to update the settings of the Shapeshifter role according to their choice in the lobby itself. Players will be able to change the number and chance of an Imposter to have the Shapeshift ability. They can even turn off the chance of having the Shapeshift role completely. Players can set how long the Impostor can stay shifted after they have disguised themselves. They can even choose whether or not any physical evidence will be left in a room after the Imposter morphs.

That’s everything that has been revealed as of now about the update. Developers at Innersloth are planning an upcoming event where they will share more about the current state of Among Us and the next update, which does not have a release date yet. We’ll likely get a look at the new roles for Crewmates, which will help them counter the sly Imposters.
