Among Us topped the most downloaded mobile games chart of Q3 2020 by dethroning PUBG Mobile

Last month was a blast for InnerSloth LLC, the developers behind the currently trending game Among Us who took over the marketplace by skyrocketing their game downloads. A recent report published by Sensor Tower shows that Among us has topped the overall most downloaded mobile games chart in Q3 2020.

Trends are really hard to predict

In case you do not know Among Us was released in 2018. However, the game did not get much response back then. Recently, the game went viral when a popular Twitch streamer showcased it. In the last month itself, i.e, Septemeber, Among Us garnered a whopping 84 Million downloads which came from 30 Million on iOS and 54 Million on Android. The post-ban scenario of PUBG Mobile in India pushed the game out of top 5 and currently standing at the 10th position of the overall downloads. However, in terms of revenue, the game is still making enough to stand at the 2nd position. The most of it coming from iOS users as the game went out of top 10 for the Google Play revenue. The overall revenue is headed by Tencent’s Honor of Kings or its international version Arena of Valor.

Overall, the mobile games market has seen +27.9% Y/Y growth which is totally being dominated by the Google Play.


Global Consumer Spending for Mobile Games are on the rise

While there is no doubt that the mobile games market is flourishing day by day, the current data shows +26.7% Y/Y increase in terms of consumer spending. However, Apple Store is leading in gross revenue generation with $12.4 Billion where Google stands at $8.5 Billion.
