- Blue Protocol had a planned global release window of 2024
- The game was launched in Japan on June 14, 2023
- Blue Protocol players had expressed concern about the quality of life updates
Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol, which was supposed to hit the floors soon globally, has been officially canceled. The confirmation came after the Japanese version of Blue Protocol announced that the game would unfortunately shut down and end its service on January 18, 2025.
Blue Protocol players had expressed concern about the quality of life updates
Blue Protocol was a project in the works by Bandai Namco Online & Bandai Namco Studios and published by Amazon Games. Launched in Japan on June 14, 2023, the makers had also announced that the planned release window is moving to 2024 on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5, with mobile release not mentioned at the time of announcement.
However, none of the platforms will see the release given its shutdown. The official statement read: “We have enjoyed a strong relationship with Amazon Games throughout the development of Blue Protocol, and both of our teams are disappointed that we will not be able to deliver the game to players around the world.”
Blue Protocol was a promising title, boasting amazing visuals and combat aesthetics. In the game, you explore the stunning world of Regnas. As you uncover your past, you’ll meet new allies and are tasked to save the planet from destruction caused by technological distortions. You and your friends must journey to an unknown world to find a solution.
Many players shared their opinions on why the game was holding too long for a release. Most expressed concerns about how there is a widespread belief that the game is currently in a subpar state, with issues in quality of life updates and overall player sentiment being negative. Another Japan server player also notified how the high-priced gacha lost support from some players.
All that being said, there is no chance of a Blue Protocol game popping up on our mobile screens following its shut down. Until another developer team picks the game up and joins hands with Bandai, the case will remain the same. Back in September 2023, it was reported that Tencent was in talks with Bandai Namco about a mobile adaptation of the game, although the details of it are not confirmed yet.
