The latest update for eFootball PES 2021 arrived in the game on 9th April 2021 with the latest Datapack 5.0 addition to both PC and Mobile. The new update had its own inclusions, just like the previous Datapack updates 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0, which will be available to the players once they update the game. This new update brought new Iconic Moment players, player upgrades, face updates, kit updates, etc, into the game, which we can experience while we play. So, in this article, we will go through the newest additions that have been added to the game with the Datapack 5.0 update.
Latest additions in the PES 2021 Datapack 5.0
New Iconic Moments added
This has been a very frequent addition in every datapack, as KONAMI have found a way to lure their players into such shiny pink Iconic cards. Even in this latest PES 2021 Datapack 5.0 update, we will find new Iconic Moments coming into the game. But, we can see that most of these cards’ other versions have been already existing in the game.
Among the new ones, Arshavin, Ronaldo, and Adlair look promising. But again, as per the known stats in the datapack, Ronaldo’s stats seem to be underwhelming given his amazing performances at Real Madrid. On the other hand, Arshavin’s performance (scoring 4 goals) also seems to be underappreciated. But as we have seen before, stats don’t paint the whole picture.
|POSITION||PLAYER NAME||CLUB||BASE RATING|
|CF||A. COLE||MANCHESTER UNITED||91|
|D YORKE||MANCHESTER UNITED||90|
|G. ELBER||FC BAYERN MUNICH||89|
|LWF||C. RONALDO||REAL MADRID||93|
|CMF||B. ROBSON||MANCHESTER UNITED||90|
New Legends added
PES 2021 Datapack 5.0 update has also introduced new Japanese Legends to the game. Interestingly, T. Kubo has been also added, in fact, him being just 20 years old.
This did bring up a huge debate on whether it was necessary to have him in the game, but at the end of the day, the users cannot do anything regardless. However, we do have some very good cards in Nakata and Kagawa.
|POSITION||PLAYER NAME||NATIONALITY||BASE RATING|
Some players have got their base rating and max. level caps upgraded, thanks to their consistent performances in Europe. Kimmich and Haaland get their worthy upgrades thanks to their impressive display of Football in the Bundesliga and the UCL. Llorente, Marcel, Guerreiro and Sommer have been upgraded from Gold to Blackball rarity this datapack.
|PLAYER NAME||POSITION||PREVIOUS RATING (BASE)||UPDATED RATING (BASE)|
|E. B. HAALAND||CF||85||86|
PES is known for having youngsters get massive potential upgrades and this datapack did not disappoint in that regard. Young Stars who have been consistently performing in their respective leagues have been awarded huge potential upgrades, something that has been not common in PES 2020. Pedri, Wirtz, Kounde to name a few have massively boosted stats at max. level and can even be your picks in many youngster teams.
|PLAYER NAME||POSITION||BASE RATING||MAX. LEVEL RATING|
|E. SMITH ROWE||AMF||76||90|
New and Updated Player faces
Player faces have been updated in every datapack that has come in the game till now and here too it has been the same. Around 100+ faces have been updated/added to the game, which infact is really good to not see AI generated faces while giving them a close up.
Several new boots of different brands like Adidas, Mercurial, Phantom have been added.
400 Million Download Campaign
KONAMI celebrated the 400 million downloads of PES Mobile by offering a quiz contest on Twitter which had a Free IM Messi as a reward for all their users. Also, Davies will be another player who will be available for free. This campaign will be separated into 2 different periods. Log in during each period to sign a different player.

- New/updated commentary data.
While this Datapack has been really good in terms of considering how they have brought up important upgrades to players who were consistently dropping good performances, it is also disappointing to see KONAMI recycling the same IMs with their new versions with slight improvement. Yes, as fans players will definitely go for their favourite cards but as the fan of the game, it is really not interesting. Among the new ones, Ronaldo is poorly handled by the team, as the stats of Ronaldo is ridiculously low compared to the ones that are introduced. Being one of the best players of this generation, the stats that have been given to him at his time at Real Madrid is nowhere near his potential or his performances in that Iconic match.
Also to consider is that there are no new legends in the game (except Japanese) and how Iconic Moments have become too many to handle, the players feel IMs are the superior cards and Legends have slowly lost their value of being the best cards in the game. What we wish is that this season it is just a season update, so in the coming datapacks or in the next season of PES, we get to see new Legends and IMs of players who deserve it.
